Newcomers Provide Proof of goods.

Any newcomer posting a thread selling gold or any virtual currency should have to post a valid picture providing proof they have the gold. Can save a lot of time & scammers

 

For some reason I thought this was already a thing, or was maybe at one time. I wouldn't mind it if it's not enforced currently. However I don't think it should just be enforced on 'newcomers'...

 

I disagree, why should a new member be treated any differently than the rest of us?
Sure we gain a trading history in the form of vouches, post count that indicates activeness, and other ranks that indicate loyalty, but at the end of the day anyone can scam regardless of any of that.
If it's a requirement for a newbie, it should also be required for the rest.

Would I classify as a newcomer? Probably because of my join date.
Would I have joined these forums at all if MMORPG didn't need me for rsgp sales? Probably not because I never knew this site existed.
If I am classified a newcomer, I would be required to go first to people with more quality vouches than me, but would I do that to just anybody? No.

This idea would work perfectly if all newcomers were able to be put in 1 group of users with very distinct features.
That's not going to work in any way, because the newcomer is not just 1 type of people, there are way too many to describe and put in a group.

If everybody would have to show proof of the sale they are doing, every market trader would have to show proof and update it every time they bump to keep up with the newcomers.
That's not how the market should be.

Quantity and especially quality of vouches should be the one and ONLY way any newcomer should deal with the market.

Making the market safer for use is not Sythe's responsibility, safe use of the market is done by the customer and the customer alone.

No support, if you feel like the person is untrustworthy do not trade them or use a MM. Also, you can request them to show the virtual currency in game.

As explained above, sorting people in to "newcomer" and not is overly-complicated. It'd also be extremely difficult to monitor and implement for the same reasons.
That said, if you're trading with someone, it's good practice to request proof before you do so - just to be safe. Remember we have official middlemen in place should you not want to go first to what you deem to be an untrusted newcomer here: www.sythe.org/middleman-forums/.
