Do the rares have value?

Soo I played 07 scape for like two weeks when it came out, well before the rares were released or whatever happened with that.. Can someone explain the situation with things spawning? Like, is it random? Do the rares have value equivalent to what they were around 07? Is it just crazy with bots so that you can't make decent money just by mining or woodcutting like it was?

I'm thinking about starting to play again and wondering if it's worth the time..


Also, all these updates basically forced me to become bored with a game that I spent a significant portion of my life playing.. I literally worked for nothing. 07 scape didn't change any of that, it just tried to get me to do it all over again.

 

Rares have no long term value. They will never become discontinued and they aren't actually rare.
It's still possible to make money with most skills; there isn't a big bot problem.

 

Man... I think about this alot. Oh so many hours wasted during the prime time of my life. I've played this game for 8 years.. I quit but always come back.. It's funny.. people who have never played the game won't start because of how complex it is and the amount of time you need for it. Just like you said "I literally worked for nothing. 07 scape didn't change any of that, it just tried get me to do it all over again". In the end 07 scape will die.. all that time wasted you know? Wow do I ever go through vicious cycles in my head about the point of the game... but I guess in the end its all just for enjoyment right? Just don't let it control your life.

 

Rares are truly not rares so to speak, Jagex have determined that they will be re releasing them every year, as per schedule. The game itself, is definitely worth playing. If you're a long term player (Been around for years) then it'll definitely be a reminisce from the past, man. There seems to be a huge crack down on le gold farming bots, so I think it's going alright. Although, the economy is not like it used to be.

 

Rares aren't discontinued and so they have no significant value. Skilling is a good source of income, as for the bots well most of them are combat bots, like Rock Crabs (I found a few when leveling there)... They are of no real threat as ban rate is super high due to bots still still only being up to 'testing standards', so to speak. Come back and get a feel for the old servers, I'm sure you'll get a boost of nostalgia and realize it's worth it starting over again. I actually found starting over a good feature as it made everything fun again as there was always something to aim for. Good luck .
