Picture this. It is the year 2022 and unemployment and crime rates are almost non existent in America. For 364 days of the year peace and harmony is adequately restored to perfection- the reason? because every year the Government permits a 12 hour period where ALL crime including murder, rape and robbery is legalized and the Emergency Services are completely suspended.

Yeah i was referring to the movie lol .. i would have posted this in the serious discussion forum! (not a bad idea) I just saw the preview's and it looked pretty trippy.

I want to see the movie. Hopefully they'll explain in greater depth the way the system would work. "Everyone gets to let out the evils inside of them" doesn't really make it believable lol.

The honest truth is that there's no way this movie is going to do well with reviews and such. For example i can already tell the rating on rotten tomatoes, 40% of reviewers liked it but 88% of audience liked it? The concept of this movie is awesome! I think i'll enjoy it but if your into movies such as Lincoln (amazing acting by Daniel Day Lewis btw) or The Master (another great acted movie but can be perceived as boring) Then honestly i think those are the kind of people which will hate The Purge. Overall i think it'll be a fun movie, kind of like Taken, a lot of people liked it but that select group of movie watchers for the acting hate it.


So yes it'll be awesome for me!!

I don't mean to bash or anything but the point was to think if it will be a good movie?

A movie by the way is not real lol so you kind of disputed the concept but as a movie it is a really cool idea.

That would be like saying the reason Jurassic Park wouldn't work is because of all the dinosaurs genetic make up wouldn't be able to last long enough to allow them to live a healthy life plus some could just fly off the island. Not to mention T-Rex's breaking through the gates..

That's the main synopsis. It isn't even about the Purge itself, it's about a single family protecting someone. Lol...

Ethan Hawke is a shitty actor, as is Lena Headley (except for her role in "300", honestly), so I don't see this being a good film at all.

But it has an entirely different plot/story line. I would hope they provide adequate detail on the whole "purge" to give us something to go off of.

The guy asks for help and the little girl lets him in, after they come to the door and ask for him. they can't get him out. Then the women asks if it's possible if they can get in. Then the break in and little kids are running around with guns and shit. Seems cool from my perspective.

Think about horror movies as a whole. Aren't most of them a single person who mass murders people or some sort of monster that kills? They just go about the killing differently. The strangers was a good movie imo anyway.

What we can get from this is that it is a money sink for idiots, regardless of how shitty the movie truly is.

The concept is fucking stupid, IMO.
