Need help with a simplish code {python/jython}

Hey guys,

Looking for some help with writing a image manipulation function/code in jython.

The function is meant to be re-usable on any image.

I'm having a hard time figuring out where I'm going wrong, I'm fairly new to python hence the reason we are starting off in jython which is more user friendly.
