    Need Help

    So I am doing my homework and I have the correct answer, however phrasing it in the correct way is the hard part. The course is business ethics and the issue here is an employee had cancer and has interest in a position that is tough and does not know if they can handle the position.

    Break down

    Employee: has cancer
    wants a promotion to a new job that may cause a relapse of her condition
    took a sick leave 3 years previously

    Employer: doesnt know if she can handle her position

    I know its moral obligation where an employee has the right to come back and work even after having a sick leave.

    But how can I phrase it more in terms of her cancer condition?

    Well, I never learned bus. ethics nor is english my first language, but I would say something like,

    I'm not sure I got the task right, but here's my thought.

    I'm not convinced that her health conditions are stable enough for her to handle a position with such responsibility, and some impulses could end up in her current, better health state falling back into a state where she wouldn't be capable of working, and you are afraid that the job's challenges may be too tough for her to handle as she has just recovered (or is still) from a severe illness. And that you feel she may not yet be 100% recovered, meaning, after such a hard sickness, you aren't convinced it is a good idea to take such stress and resonsibility on herself?

    If I missunderstood something, please let me know, I'll try to rephrase if I did it wrong:p
    Hope I helped nonetheless:)

    You'd rather post this in the home work section, maybe you'll get a bit more help over there.

    OT;
    Hmm if i understood this correctly, She wrote a letter to the "head office" and asked for a promotion and you guys need to decline her request because it may harm her personal health?

    If so, i kind of learned at school on how to respond to that in the correct english "business rules";
    Opening: Express thanks for her letter and interest in the job she's asking promotion for.
    Focus: Go over the details she spoke about, to kind of confirm you fully understand her.
    Action: Write a regretting response for being able to accept her request, as it might not be the best choice for her in her situation? To maintain her health she should continue what she's doing now and rather not try to climb up the ladder when it may potentionally harm her personal health
    Close: Express goodwill in a polite way.(1 sentence at most) Wish good luck with the future.
