Plastic surgery

Welcome guys, first of all I would like to say that this is serious and its an issue I am experiencing right now.

I am 18 years old and dont feel comfortable with my appearance. Trust me when I say talking about surgery while being so young makes me feel very awkward. I consider myself a down-to-earth person and I am not over-reacting with this. I feel my nose is big and a week ago I built enough courage to speak to my mother about this.
I was actually surprised on how good she took it, I spoke to her from my heart and she understood me. Surgery was something I have been thinking about the entire year, but never had the strength to talk about it since a week ago.
Some things I would like to note are that I am not really shy but there are situations that I think people are staring at me for my nose but then I think I might just be over-reacting.

What worries me is what will the people think of me being 18 years old and having surgery. What would you guys suggest me..?

 

Plastic surgery is used for worse things when hitting 18, you're making what you think is a correction and a lot of the time, people make mistakes. If you're truly unhappy with the way your nose is shaped, I don't see why surgery isn't an option despite your age. Especially if your mom is on board, that's all you really need, but be sure it's what you really want. I know you said you've been thinking about it for an entire year, but be absolutely positive that you want to change this about yourself (its been you since you were young). There are negative effects that can toll on you if the surgery doesn't go as planned (that you plan in your subconscious).

Probably not at all what you're looking for, but what I felt was right to say.

 

You do know plastic surgery is very expensive? (I'm sure you know this already.) If it's something you've been really planning on, and you are really sure you want to change your physical appearance for the rest of your life, then I would say go for it.

But as Yankiee said there could be some negative effects, such as your plan for the perfect nose. The doctor can do perfectly as you asked, but what if you go home and look in the mirror and decide that nose isn't really you? Some people get hooked on plastic surgery searching for there "perfect face". (And in the long run it could make you look worse from constantly changing your appearance.)

Not trying to scare you, but just putting that into consideration. I think your just over-reacting though, everyone wants to look beautiful. But the real secret to being beautiful isn't about how well your skin complexion is or your hair style, etc. IT'S ABOUT BEING YOURSELF!!

Appearance should not make you do a surgery at such a young age, mate you are beautiful no matter the size of your nose.
There's always someone for you remember that.

 

Has anyone told you that you have a big nose? Surgery might make you look worse but hopefully it doesn't if you still persist for it. If you feel comfortable, you can post a picture of yourself and we can tell you whether its something you're overreacting about or not?

 

I pierce my body because I think it makes me look better, and makes me more confident, there is no difference between what you want and what anyone wants.

You're prepared to go farther than most to acheive happiness, for that I commend you.

 

Are you willing to post a picture? Just remember if you get anxious over the though of "these people are looking at my big nose" how will you handle "these people are looking at me because I got plastic surgery"?

 

Most will say you're already beautifuly and dont do it blah blah, I say if your mom listened to how you feel and she actually gave her blessed, usually parents will say that you are beautiful no matter what, then by all means if this will make you happy, do it.

 

One of my mates has a big nose and he's slaying an extremely hot babe ATM, I honestly don't think it's that much of a problem with women.

 

Having a big nose is nothing to worry about. If you posted a picture of yourself I'm sure all of us would say you don't need it.
However, it's your nose, so you do what you want with it. If you want surgery I don't see a reason why you shouldn't. (other than you don't actually need it)

People you meet will never know you have had surgery, so they won't say anything anyway. As for your friends, they are bound to comment as any normal person who notices would, but after a while, they wont.

 

The day after telling my mom about this, we started looking for a doctor and he was charging around 10.000$ but I told this to my mom that it was too expensive and she said that money wont be an issue and that all that was important here was me. (I've had my ups and downs with my mom, but the way she took this extremely surprised me)

I have a lot of friends, and they dont really comment about my nose, the only couple of times they did it was joking but never told me something about it seriously.

I am not looking for a perfect image, I am looking for something that would make me feel comfortable with myself

I never took the jokes about my nose seriously but deeply they annoyed me, it was 2 or 3 times though.

Replying to others: I am a down-to-earth guy and I am not looking to be the perfect looking person, I dont understand the persons that take like 5 surgeries

I am VERY aware that the surgery can go wrong and fuck up my entire image, and I must admit it something that scares me

 

Honestly, you aren't old enough to understand some important things yet.
Plastic Surgery has not come far enough to actually work well (except in Korea). This is a primary reason why people get multiple surgeries - they're not satisfied by the outcome, sure it may be a bit better but something looks off.

If you wait a couple years, even until early 20's I'm sure your opinion will change. Right now you're at the social age where the most important thing in the world is to look good, and be liked. Things will change, and if you go through with this (permanent facial alteration) so early there's a high chance you will regret it (and lose big $).

 

I'd only ever go that far if I felt extremely uncomfortable all the time. By the souds of it you don't although I could be wrong.. I'd wait a year or two and if you still feel the same then go for it. Remember though, most teenagers feel insecure about their bodies etc, so the feeling may not last.
