    Programming Question

    Dear Members,

I want to start to program.
I want to start programming in Lua, but I don't know if any of you have experience with the question I'm asking now.
I play a game called Garry's Mod, and I want to start coding Lua, so I can create amazing things in it.
I'm just afraid of starting with Lua straight away, because the language is a language you need a background knowledge of programming to start with.
So I'm thinking of starting with C++ first, before I start with Lua.
What do you think I should?

Lua isn't generally used for "real" programs, it's generally only for creating mods inside games (for example WoW AddOns are created in Lua).

I personally really like the feel of it as a language, but in all honesty you probably shouldn't focus on it first.

Whether your first language should be C++ or not is a fairly controversial topic; some people think you should learn C++ first so you know how the computer actually works from day one. Personally I think you should learn C/C++ (hell, even Assembly if you have time), but you should start with a fairly high level language.

    Try either Java or C#.
