    Is C4D Evil?

Maxon C4d, for those who don't know, is the program that people use to make their 3d text.

The graphics marketplace is dominated by C4D text, with people have lighthouses saved so they can setup the text and render it out in a matter of minutes. This is then often accompanied by a few renders and a few effects. I know Sythe is a marketplace first and a community second but, although I've never been good at tags, I've always preferred them over signatures. They showcase a range of techniques and often look a lot better. While I'm not detesting Signatures (I know how necessary they are and even I have one), do you guys think that C4D is evil? Do you guys think it's made us lazy with our graphic designs?

I don't think Graphic designers are to blame as much as the customers are. I just never see customers expressing interest in a tag over a 3D signature. As unfortunate as it may be, If a graphic designer refuses make C4D signatures, he is going to lose a lot of business.

    Is C4D Evil?

This is, what I have come to call, the division between graphic arts and graphic design. Arts being the passion for creating something using numerous skills and talent, where designs are created to be flashy and fulfill the purpose of advertising.

I'm not saying purely that C4D signatures are bad but I am more driving at the fact that due to the simplicity of banging out the C4D part, the photoshop side of things that really separates the boys from the men gets neglected with minimal effort put into customizing the signature.

As much as I hate mentioning my signature, I'll use it as an example. I do business on sythe so I must have a signature. It's very unique though, I personally feel it looks good and a few others have shared that opinion. It's a very unique style that I've come up of my own merit and is original. Nothing is original these days which is what I was trying to drive at.

I dont agree with c4d... It just makes people look like graphic designers because they download a few gfx packs... No effort at all is put into any c4d project and tbh the price tag is not worth it.

I think that proper graphic designers should be willing to go that extra mile to create something amazing that they can be proud of. Creating the same shit over and over again isn't going to help you improve. You can only improve by pushing the boundaries and challenging yourself.

    Is C4D Evil?

That's an interesting discussion question Jack :)

I'm not sure if I'd say C4D's use qualifies as "evil" - it has brought a ton of activity to the GFX Marketplace, so it definitely has brought in more interest to graphic art/design in general. Furthermore I agree that using C4D to create "easy" text art has been almost a bit of a nuisance for artists that are accustomed to creating tag art. I don't think we really see any unique pieces from the market anymore :S! Again though, like MrLuckyDraw mentioned, if a GFX marketeer refused to make the usual 3d text signature, he'd certainly lose most if not all of his customers.

However, the C4D doors have led new GFX marketeers into different types of arts as well: Those that want to expand their horizons and satisfy their need to improve do, and those that want to make a quick buck do as well. I see it as a win-win situation :D and the activity is definitely appreciated.
