Chaotic Rapier vs. Chaotic Longsword vs. Chaotic Maul

I decided to make a thread and offer some guidance since many people don't know which chaotic melee weapon to choose when they reach 200K tokens.

Chaotic Rapier

• Fastest attack speed
• Most popular chaotic weapon
• Excellent choice for PvP
• Second strongest damage per second
• Decent choice for PvM
• Decent combo potential
• Weakest damage per hit
• Worst accuracy

The chaotic rapier is very well-rounded. In most cases, you will not be disappointed with this weapon. The rapier is definitely a good choice if you like fast paced PvP. Please read below if you prefer bossing or PvP at a slower pace.

Chaotic Longsword

• Strongest damage per second
• Best choice for bossing
• Decent choice for PvM
• Second fastest attack speed
• Second strongest damage per hit
• Second best accuracy
• Worst choice for PvP
• Worst combo potential

The chaotic longsword is the best bossing weapon in the entire game. This weapon will be the best choice if you dislike PvP and frequently boss. The chaotic longsword has little to no combo potential. It is incredibly impractical against other players and I suggest you skip this one if you frequently PvP.

Chaotic Maul

• Excellent choice for PvP
• Strongest damage per hit
• Best combo potential
• Best accuracy
• Slowest attack speed
• Weakest damage per second
• Worst choice for PvM

Most people will know whether or not they want the chaotic longsword right away. The choice will usually come down to the chaotic rapier versus the chaotic maul. I absolutely suggest the maul if you rarely PvM, frequently PvP, and have combo potential (vengeance). Zerkers and mains will have much more success with the maul than pures will. I suggest you don't choose the maul as your first chaotic on a pure.

 

This is well made, would have definitely helped me out when I was trying to decide my first chaotic. Good job.

 

Thanks for making this Farcast! Many always struggle with deciding which chaotic weapon they should get. Hopefully this sums it up for them as it did for me!

 

Your chaotic rapier is a little off, as is Longsword.
PvM doesn't only mean bosses, it applies to all monsters.
Chaotic rapier should be changed to "Best choice for PvE", because I can honestly say I do everything with my rapier than I could do if I had a longsword or a maul.

Chaotic longsword should be changed from "Best PvM" To best Player vs boss, or "Decent PvM". Nobody should EVER slay with a longsword. It's horrible, low DPS, just bad overall for slayer. Rapier is a better choice.

This was not supposed to be a bashing post, it was just my opinion. The rest of it, IMO, is not bad. Will answer a lot of 'which chaotic should i get' threads.
Should be stickied, also add chaotic bow.

 

I know what PvM means, but I do agree with you on the bossing part. Revised it a bit and stickied.

The cls is only better on wyverns and bandos gwd..everywhere else a rapier or maul is better.

 

Maul is the best for PvMing against Tormented Demons if you're an experienced switcher. It also dominates in GWD.

I'm getting 80 dung soon, I'm 80 att, 86 str, 40 def, 94 mage.

Should i get the maul? I pvp alot..

But I was also thinking rapier, so i can max out?

Which do you think i'd be more satisfied with?

 

Well Said,i prefer rapier over all though.

 

Rapier is also the best training weapon, so get that.

Ive had all chaotics on my main before it got banned,
Nothing beats the rapier in slayer, its just the best hands down.

And thats the same as the chaotic longsword, if your a PvM'er the chaotic long is a MUST!
Rapier is still decent for bandos soloing, but u will find that most kills it hits ALOT of 0's in a row.
