Finally upgraded my gaming desktop from a intel core 2 duo 2.2ghz/gtx 560 to this:

    [Processor] Intel Core i7 3770k @ 4.5ghz stable
[Graphics card] EVGA GeForce GTX 670 FTW @ 1200mhz stable
[Motherboard] Asus Maximus V Gene Intel Z77
    [Memory] G.Skill Ares 16gb ddr3 1600
    [Case] Cooler Master Storm Enforcer
[Storage] Corsair Force GT 240GB SSD, 500gb HDD
    [Cooling System] x2 200mm red led fan, x1 120mm red led fan, 1x Noctua NH-D14 cpu fan/heatsink

    Extras:
    [Monitor] Asus 24" 2ms 1080p Full HD
    [Mouse] Razer Mamba 2012
    [Headset] Corsair Vengeance 1500
[OS] Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

This setup gets a 7.9 rating in everything except the cpu (7.8) in WEI. A 7.9 cpu rating requires a 5.6ghz overclock which is impossible for a 24/7 pc.

    Overclock is stable :D

And now for some pictures of the actual setup

Everything costed around $2.2k including extras. I plan on getting watercooling for my cpu, and buying two Gigabyte gtx 670 windforce cards soon so I can max my overclocks :D

Pretty sure you can get a 7.9 rating if you would've bought the i7 ivy bridge extreme edition, but it's not worth it. Looks like a really solid build, good job :p

    Thanks :) It's currently impossible to get a 24/7 gaming rig with a 7.9 processor rating since W.E.I. requires a 5.6ghz overclock.

The only 7.9 I saw was with two xeon cpus, cant remember the exact model, but they had some extreme water cooling setup, and both were overclocked to GHz.

Also the i7 3960x has 6 cores and 12 threads.

Nonetheless a great build! Have you done any other benchmarks on it yet?

It was alright. Ran most games at high settings (AA off) with decent fps but my old 2.2ghz dual core cpu was limiting the performance. If you have a good cpu (like an i5 2500k/i7 2600k+ or amd equivalent if thats even possible) I'm sure it can even run bf3 on high with around 60 fps.

Now that the 660ti is out, I wouldn't recommend the 560 since you can get so much more fps by paying $80-100 extra.

if anyone bases the WEI system on any type of logical benchmark, just shush.
TBH only dislikes about this build would be not having a good set of headphones, and a non mechanical KB. :p
Besides that looks like a sick build.
Got the same PSU aswell, besides the fact that it's ugly as fuck it's a good unit.

Bumping since I'm going to replace/upgrade some things in my build.. :)

Gpu: 2x EVGA Geforce GTX 680 Signature
    Cpu cooling: Corsair h100 watercooling
Psu: ocz 1250w 80 plus gold
Case: Cooler Master Haf x 942

One of the mistakes I've made with the build was the cpu cooling and case. I hope I'll be able to up my overclock to 4.8ghz with watercooling and the haf x 942 which has better airflow :D

Nice to upgrade to 2 680's but my advice is: GET GALAXY Super Overclocked Edition it's 550$ in newegg.

yesyeyesyesyes. Mech keyboards are worth 100% of the cost. I use cherry red switches and love them(I own a Coolermaster and Corsair mech KB).

That's a nice computer you got! But the real question is, does it play Minecraft? xD
