Geforce GT 540M or Geforce 610M?

Which one is better?
What are the differences?

GT 540M is better. It's the second numbe that signifies it's power, the 1st is just it's ID.

 

Sort of this. 600 series is newer but some of them are rebranded or however you call it. 600 series should be more efficient than the 500 series. Not only graphic performance wise but also heat/power consumption wise.

But the 610m is a joke of a card, company's make you think that you have dedicated graphics BUT the intel 4000 graphics perform better than the geforce 610m.

There are loads of laptops with ivy bridge processor / 610m graphics but that's just a joke. I think that the laptop with 610m has an ivy bridge aswell and the gt 540m is from the older sandy bridge architecture laptops mainly.

Purely graphic performance wise you should go for the 540m. The 540m is actually a good graphics card for a laptop (Similar to 630m)
