I'd like my IP checked

So since I joined Sythe and a few months before I am in what you call 'college'. It's too far from my home (from which I have never logged in to on Sythe and I will avoid doing so to make sure things don't get confusing) I'm renting a small appartement. But I assume there is a small chance there are other Sythe users who use the same router (since it's like 1 for 3 floors). Can a moderator check if there are any issues with my IP and tell me what I can do to make sure I don't get confused with these users?

 

I'm no moderator, however, as long as it's not obvious that it's one user using other Sythe accounts to self-vouch, I'm sure you'll be fine.

 

Just read http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=148431 and they seem to be kind of intolerant towards multiple accounts on one IP, especially if one makes a mistake. So I'd like to have it checked right now, to be sure.

 

You could see why though, Chances are that most users will never have another "Legit" sythe user on the same IP. Most scammers/self-vouching people do this.

 

Of course, I completely understand. Nevertheless, I'd like a mod to check.

 

When you signed up, you should have gotten an error that others were signed up under your IP. If you didn't, you should be ok. Nevertheless, a mod should still confirm it.

It is possible to register account on a different ip and then use that account later on an ip that someone registered on. No one else has signed up from your ip address at the college, HOWEVER, someone could have already had an account and moved to the college. Worth getting it check up on

 

Your best bet would be to shoot a private message to any Sythe Moderator. They can all check your I.Ps and see if other members are accessing Sythe through the same router and whatnot. A list of Moderators can be found here.

Even if there are no other members who have the same or similar I.P addresses to you, I'd certainly be wary, in fact I personally wouldn't risk it at all, especially if you trade a lot in the market. The staff hold you alone responsible for your I.P address. So if someone does pop on in the future and scams and gets banned, you may find yourself getting banned too.

Well, even if no-one else who is accessing the same internet connection as you is currently using Sythe, someone may in the future. It can only take a matter of hours for someone to register on the same router as you, scam someone, get banned, then a Staff member see you're using the same I.P to get you banned as well. It's a risky situation.

 

So what do you suggest? Not being here at all?

 

I don't know much about the rules on ips but it's probably worth looking into, talk to a Mod apparently they can check.

 

Just PM a Global to check you and to let them know that you may get other user's on the same IP as you in College. I had other people in College sign up to Sythe when I was there, although they only signed up because they saw me on it. I kept a close eye on their accounts though.

 

Of course not! All I recommend is at least doing everything you can to monitor anyone else who may or you believe may be using Sythe, or getting your own internet service. You could probably get one of those WiFi dongles with a gig or two a month to use for Sythe. I know it sounds like a hassle, but you don't want to get into a situation where you may get in trouble for something you didn't do.

 

I would have to buy my own router and pay about 30€ monthly just as a precaution, sounds like a bit too much to me

I know it does, I'm just saying the rules on Sythe state you're responsible for your I.P, which means when it comes to Sythe.org, you're responsible for all those other people who share your router. I wouldn't risk it, but it's your call.
