200 Million people yet only 133,045 are online, nearly half of which are bots.

Not to mention their player tracker continues to count although the site goes offline.

Instead of calculation 28,000,000 * $0.60, it would be more interesting to know how much in membership they have made.

 

Love how they say 200 million players like we are that stupid. Of course everyone knows it's 200 million accounts. People make hundreds of accounts, I wouldn't even be surprised if someone had like 500 accounts. This is a decent feat, but not when you consider bots + duplicates + the fact that next to nobody plays now. Just more false advertising from Jagex for Rune$cape.

It's only 200 million accounts created, inevitably not 200 million players, haha.

For example, most players own more then 1 account.

... I think we would have all called them players aside to characters. Let's not blame them. We all would false advertise to better our business just like some Gold seller do on Sythe.

Disagree...plenty of companies don't need to stoop that low just for a few extra bucks. I understand power within Jagex has changed, so decisions are different. I don't think it would or should be labelled as players or characters. 200 million accounts properly illustrates the actual achievement. 200 million accounts is nowhere near as impressive as 200 million players. There are probably a million active players right now..and that is a huge stretch of a prediction.


I don't know, in my opinion it's time to stop painting Jagex in this positive picture, because it is obvious they're milking every last cent out of the game. Not really for the betterment of their business, but more-so because they know this cash cow won't keep giving them said cash.

 

My point is that the counter continues to count although the site/server goes offline.

 

While even I don't believe Jagex would ever stoop THAT LOW...it wouldn't surprise me if they "fudged the numbers" so to speak. I mean, honestly, what is stopping them. Nobody outside of the company could ever confirm or deny these figures.

What it comes down to for me is the blatant disregard for the truth, Jagex is very good at manipulating statistics and words to make something sound much, much better than it really is. To me this is shady, to some it's great business. Honestly it's probably a little of both.

At the end of the day, morality, or lack thereof, will get Jagex $$$ regardless.

The week before the graphics update shit off RuneScape servers spontaneously shut off for a good 3-4 hours, then the site for an hour.

The entire time they both were offline the counter continued to count.

 

i noticed on the page it says "runescape players kill 150 dragons each day! it's more like 150 dragons a minute probably counting steel drags black drags bronze drags green drags that's some bullshit so their figures are stupid. a trillion gold though that's crazy, i would like that kind of cash.

i would say alot since IVP bought andrew gower's share for $115.5M.

 

I'm interested in seeing how much the company is worth as a whole.
