Runescape GP

This is a question I've always wanted to know. Where did all of the RSGP come from? Considering that there's hundreds of billions worth of GP, where did it come from? Don't say botting, because what the bots sell requires GP to buy. Was it all from monster drops? Did jagex put money into the game secretly to get the economy going? SOF I know brings money into the game everyday, (about 2B approximately per day is what I heard last) but I don't care. SOF is out of the question. I've wondered this since I started in 2004, and there was a decent amount of GP already.

 

The answer is simple.
Raw materials: Sharks, magic logs, dragonhides, ores, logs,...
We've all been there as level 3 for example, you need 100K for your first lovely looking rune set.
What you'd most likely do (especially in the past) was mining coal, gold, picking flax, making bowstrings.

Combine that with about 10 years of RuneScape and you come up with BILLIONS of GP.
Due note: bots also gather resources sometimes, so they bring loads of 'new' money into the game too.

 

Think most of it's from Alching, and a smaller amount from selling to shops.

 

Not sure how the "raw" materials generate GP in the game.

Majority is from alching. Hundreds of millions of GP comes into the game daily just from it. And selling to shops (As stated above). But there are money sinks; Coinshare, summoning (shards), repair armor etc.

 

Never thought about alching :embar: . I remember the days before coinshare and all, and remember GP being so much harder to get.

 

Yes, gold was harder to get, and the price of gold was also much higher.

 

i think most of the original gp came into the game from low and high alching, and from selling to shops. now alot of it comes into the game from coinshare as well.

 

Yeah I think alching and selling your items to the shops is how people got money long time ago. Now there is so much money in runescape now its like an endless supply, dicing clans make over 3b+ a day easily.

 

Dicing clans have more GP than we think. I feel like they own over 60% of the gold ingame today. Dragon dyce's owner makes like 30B every month. And with all of that currency sitting in their bank via spirit shards, the players economy is fucked.

 

I've always been told that most of the gold in game is from years and years of high alching.

 

Imagine update fucking spirit shards...
Runescape has had a huge influx of gp during the years.
Most of it has been created by high alching (eg 55-94 mage via alching maple u's creates 120k * 192 gp just from the thin air) but also the pvp worlds have inflated rsgp (statues).
Also things like lootshare count but i don't think that has had the most impact.

 

Yeah definitely alching. thats main source of income in rsc!
