Are Men and Women Equal?

As the title says, do you believe men and women are equal? If so why? If not why?

I believe we are equal although there are some things a man cant do but a woman can and vice versa. IMO society and the world we live in makes this judgment biased because of the laws and views placed on men and women.

For example a fat man can walk down the street with his shirt off and have man boobs and itd be normal, but if a woman does it with the same bra size as the fat man it becomes a problem or a big deal amongst people.

Equality between men and women is often a point of debate and social sarcasm and humor although in reality men and women are equal due to the sole fact that we are humans and in all serious nothing apart from a sexual reproductive organs separate us. A women is just as smart as a man and a man is just as smart as a women.

 

Man and women are equal in todays society, why shouldn't they be they can do everything that a man can do. Back in the old days no they wasn't equal but today yes they are, some women can do things better than a man and vice versa some men can do things better than a women. It should stay equal, yes in some under developed countries this is not the case but in first world countries we are considered equal.

 

No they aren't equal.. Ever heard of a girl on an NFL team that actually played? Neither have I. Ever heard of a girl in the Augusta National Golf Club? Neither have I (been many cases). Women sometimes have double standard for us. Why is women's insurance cheaper than men's? Look at Japan.. men have priority.. look at the U.S.. women have priority.. Laws against hitting a woman.. etc

I do not think men & women are equal. I am a male, but I think that women are actually superior (genetically).

Being a woman is the "default" sex (two x chromosomes). Being a woman has many natural advantages, certain protection against genetic diseases such as color-blindness, longer natural lives, mature earlier (in terms of responsibility and all), and there are many more that can be listed.

What natural advantages does being a man give somebody? More muscle? That's really all, we mature later, which screws us over in school now, and would have screwed us over in the cave-man days when we couldn't fight off animals. There really is no distinct advantage...

EDIT: I don't think there should be different laws though for men/women though.

 

Anyone who thinks men and women are equal is simply retarded. They are obviously not and it is an absurd notion to think that they are.

 

Men and women have never been equal and chances are won't be for a long while. It reminds me of Animal Farm, we are all equal - just some are more equal than others. It describes the situation.

I wish for equality between men an women as nothing should separate them, aside from the fact that they are different in their own biological ways.

I believe overall men and women are equal however each excels over the other in different things.

 

Men and women are equal mentally - in terms of education, learning capacity, etc.

Well it depends on what you mean by equal.

physically? I would say generally no, women tend to be weaker but generally have much more dexterity than men.

mentally? For the most part yes

in our current civillization? I'd say no and that it has moved into the womans favor now because everyone is afraid of sexism lawsuits etc. women tend to get what they want more often even if they aren't in the right.

Myself? I think every living thing is equal not just our own species. so yes, I don't see us women or men any different from say your cat or dog other than we trivialize our life and they don't.

 

It depends how you define equal, men and women have different strengths.

Most men could lift more than a woman, can eat more than a woman and beat a woman in a fight. On an intellectual level, I think men and women are equal.

But men and women often have different roles, e.g. in some families the man will work, the women would maybe work part time and look after the children or clean. The man without the woman could not function properly, and the woman without the man the same.
