Not sure if Jagex has actually announced where and when Runefest will be held this year, but I believe NYC was the most popular location when they asked the players in a poll earlier this year. However, Jagex said:

I looked around further, but couldn't find any confirmation of a location yet. NYC seems like it would be fairly practical for many people throughout the world though. You'll just have to wait and see :)

I think they should just continue to host it in London.. It makes sense, considering that is where Jagex operates out of, and its a convenient location. That way people from all over Europe are able to make it there, as well as people from North America.

I hope it's in LA. I live in California and that would be most convent for me. Not gonna spend $500+ on a stupid plane ticket just to go to Runefest--that's for the rich people.

I honistly am going for a once in a lifetime kinda deal i would only go once, and it's not like im dying to go, it just seems something kinda fun to do with a few irl friends. Meeting the staff of jagex ect and getting some inside info on the game i guess. I'm really excited to go :) (TBH)

How much do the tickets even cost? If they're cheap and in the California area I might have to check it out. :p

I am actually quite surprised as well, especially since last year on Sythe everybody was pretty vocal about Runefest being a lame event for nerds :p

I don't think I would go even if I had the opportunity or the cash to fly out to London, but who knows. It would be cool in the sense that you could get some behind-the-scenes information and get a glimpse of all the work that goes into making the game what it is. But on the other hand, I don't think I would fit in at Runefest AT ALL among all the nerdy kids, and it just seems so lame to attend a big festival based on a video game. But I don't know, thats just me and I'm not even 100% sure I wouldn't go. I just probably wouldn't ever buy tickets haha.

Someone plays a computer game and attends an event meeting many likeminded people and has a lot of fun. Another plays the same computer game and instead just bashes the people who go out. Who's the nerd?

They'll probably keep it in London. Just because the voting wasn't that far apart and that is where they operate out of, so it'd just be easier and cheaper.

Although NYC got the most votes, they will keep it in London instead of paying all that money to fly over, more convenient to stay put.

i think last year a 1 day pass was like 90 bucks? and a weekand pass was like 120.00 or something. It's not too expencive if you lived near it, but to fly acrost the cost it woudn't be really. But if its in new york it'll be worth it for me :p

maybe not for people in the UK tho

You don't need to get your panties all twisted up, Kratom.

I am not bashing anybody, but simply giving my opinion. Before this discussion came up, going to Runefest or ANY video game festival for that matter would never have crossed my mind. It just doesn't seem like the kind of thing that I would be interested in nor the kind of place that I would really want to be.

Yes I play Runescape and I enjoy it, but there is a HUGE difference between enjoying playing a video game and then wanting to fly out to a gaming convention. That is the same concept as the people who dress up in costumes for Lord of the Rings and camp outside the theater for 6 days just to be the first people to see the move... I enjoyed the Lord of the Rings movies but I wouldn't ever get all dressed up and camp outside a theater for days just to see the movie. To me, Runefest is the same sort of concept.

If you had thoroughly read my post above, you would recognize that I acknowledge that Runefest would be neat in a way, as you would get to see all sorts of behind-the-scenes things, and meet the makers of the game. But I just don't feel it is a place I would personally go to, nor feel comfortable. So you can keep your snide comments to yourself.

I don't think I would ever go, one reason their tickets are so overpriced. I'm wondering if they're getting less and less people going now with the way the game is going.

If I ever did go to Runefest, I would try and take advantage of the experience to get some of my questions answered by Jagex about the game and its current state, as well as the recent updates that 90% of the community has strongly opposed.

They can hide from us on the RSOF, but not in person! ^_^
