C4D help needed please!! (Pictures)

OK when I try to make some 3D text it becomes invisible, unless I highlight it.

Here is what it looks like when I highlight it:

These are the steps I am taking:
1. First I create some text. http://screensnapr.com/v/VBzol3.jpg
2. Then I create an Extrude NURBS. http://screensnapr.com/v/DLuUL4.jpg
3. Next I drag the text into the Extrude NURBS. http://screensnapr.com/v/uCf7Sl.jpg

Shouldn't I be able to see the 3D text now?

I am a huge noob when it comes to C4D, so please explain things thoroughly. If anyone can help me out, I would appreciate it very much.

This is an interesting problem, have you tried typing something in the text area ?

 

yes, it doesn't matter what text it says, it is still invisible.

 

It may not be rendering in real time (lack of ram or software issue). Try and see a render preview.

If that doesn't work, you may have also dragged the font layer above or below the extrude nerbs. I believe you have to do it the other way. I'll need to check later.

mkay so that seemed to work, but how can i view it in real time? I dont think it would be my ram, i have 4 gb + a gaming computer...
