ways/ tips getting a good score on the ACT

Hey guys so i was wondering what are good ways to get a good score 25+ at least on the ACT. I already am in 2 ACT classes, one at my school and one for a college scholarship i got that is mandatory to take. I took the one in December and got a 21 =/ (went in dry) but are there any helpful tips on doing sections or specific ways that helped u get a good score on the ACT? I know with reading for me its very hard because of all the reading and then questioning after all of it with only 35mins to do it. thanks so much guys!

 

Make sure that you study A LOT of Algebra. Where the SAT is generally pointless geometry and functions, the math portion of the ACT is primarily Algebra II material. (It can still be difficult, don't get me wrong).
Also know some simple pre-calc like how to find the amplitude and period of y=c+a*sin(b(x-d)). I ran into about 3 questions about those when I took it.

Something that I would definitely practice if you want all around good scores is the science section. If you don't know what you're doing it can really take you by surprise even if you think you're good at science.

I can't help you to much with the reading and the writing. I just don't really remember it.

Other than that, just take practice tests. Get familiar, go in comfortable and not tired-- all that good stuff.

Yeah, basically study. But I can't say it works for everyone. I did great on it but I didn't even really go to highschool or study.

Try not to cram study, not the most effective study method. Study a bit here and there, and make sure to sleep a good night after studying, to make sure the material is soaking in.

 

Do a bit every night. Personally I recommend doing a test section every night before bed. That's what got me through the SAT anyways.

 

I used to wake up at like 3 hours before any exam, then when i went to exams i would have everything fresh at my head, know what i mean? but of course i studied other days, this just a tactic =)

 

yeah right now i am studying every now and then and it seems to be good. i might start a thread on how to do well on the act later with the classes I am taking. right now in my class we are learning about "mapping" basically just taking important things of the storys we read and makeing sure we put a box over characters, underline important ideas, circle definitions or stuff like that.
