SOPA/PIPA is dead, but ACTA will KILL the internet

These acts are just justifications for what the government is going to do anyway.

They wont do shit. The internet community is just too big for an organization or whatever they are to close it. Google or youtube wont go anywhere. Google is a billionare company and im sure they wouldnt allow this to happen. They can get millions of people - just like us to protest.

SOPA/PIPA is dead, but ACTA will KILL the internet

You know ACTA isn't just the American government as was the case for SOPA and PIPA right? It's the whole world. There are a lot more countries involved than just us.

Uhh.. have you heard of China? What about North Korea? lol NK probably doesn't know what the internet is..

Ok guys, from reading this thread a lot of you don't seem to fully understand ACTA and seem to be just brushing it off and making it seem like they can't catch you easily unless they have a reason to. They're going to make it so ISP's monitor all packets of information sending and receiving from your computer. Check out this article/videos about it:

    http://www.forbes.com/fdc/welcome_mjx.shtml

It's probably going to be big. I know Anonymous is already trying to do something about it.

it's going to be worse than SOPA/PIPA. ACTA is going to be like SOPA on steroids. The sad part is after SOPA was pulled everyone's attention went back to ignorance and no one really knows what ACTA is. The day SOPA was pulled, The Enemy-Expatriation act was signed by Obama which allows citizens to be detained in concentration camps.

I like Anonymous, but they don't really help anything. all they do is DDoS websites, I mean, all they REALLY do is that and just that. How are they helping? I'm too convinced that ACTA is a reality now, I just can't give a shit anymore, I am hopeless. I'm at that "fuck life" moment. Life goes downhill from now.

Revolution isn't an option anymore, our generation is getting dumber by the day. America is shit and so are the people living here. I want to get the fuck out. I'm actually embarrassed to even live here.

SOPA/PIPA is dead, but ACTA will KILL the internet

So I did some research, and it turns out that ACTA is not as bad as it seems. In fact, it's not really bad at all. When it was first proposed, it was extremely harsh and yes, quite possibly worse than SOPA. However, it has since been extremely watered down and is no where near as much of a threat as SOPA/PIPA was.

Watch this video for a better explanation

Actually you are wrong. This is why you should lead and not follow. Don't be fooled. This guy has no understanding of ACTA and stands by what he believes is "standard copyright law". Sure he has read the whole bill, but we have no idea how every country defines "fairly standard copyright laws", I don't even know how you define it. But if anyone stands for ACTA or expresses a "don't give a shit" attitude, that is extremely stupid. Any country can make an effective plan to take down any website or content that many benefit from (anti-piracy); the government may not share the same opinion, hence can take action according to their will.

Similarly, think of how the government defines "terroist"? It's their will to decide even to the end of the spectrum, and will do so without consent of the surroundings. The system is individual and does not accept interference.

Don't talk out of your ass on issues like these; it's not worth it.

Do you know who the guy in the video is? He is Athene's partner, those two alone made a HUGE difference whilst fighting against the SOPA/PIPA bills. He definitely knows what he is talking about, I am in no way 'talking out of my ass'. Spread fear and worry yourself about the future of the internet whenever a small thing that poses no real threat if you like, but I for one am confident that ACTA is not something we should be very concerned about.

SOPA/PIPA is dead, but ACTA will KILL the internet

SOPA and PIPA were far more clear in terms of their goals; it was to completely wipe out the internet. However ACTA is very vague. Just ask yourself one question: how does one define: "standard copyright laws"? If a country defines it as implementing a 'copyright law' by taking down Google or YouTube because they encourage copyright, then according to the implementers, that is a standard copyright law.

ACTA definitely is something we should be very concerned about, and should continue to fight passionately.

Telling me who the guy is makes no difference. I don't even care what he did/does or how smart, according to you, he is. I stand by my cause to defend my rights and fight. I know humanity; it does not decide on a constant streamline wavelength. These issues can go to the intensive ends of the spectrum.

Congress just isn't getting the point. The best way to censor the people is to give them free speech. This is the idea that American society is based on. By not letting people say or do bad things and express themselves, they are replacing nonviolent protests that need a permit with violent protests that overthrow the government.
