Do people still do private DM's?

Back in 2004/2005 I used to go on the tip.it Graveyard forums all the time and find random people in the PK community to to DM's with (deathmatches). I would look for people who were within a few levels of my combat range, and we would meet up on a quiet world somewhere and fight to the death.

DM's were taken very seriously back then, and it was very rare for somebody to run, teleport, or have a friend PJ the match. We used to sometimes bring 1 friend just incase, and we would either fight somewhere above edgeville, or at the Chaos Altar in level 13 wildy above Varrock.

These are some of my most fond memories of RS... making bank by crushing random kids, making friends, and just having a good time. I've seen people doing this once in awhile on high-risk F2P worlds, but its nothing like it used to be.

Does anybody still do this?? I kinda figured that with all the sad ass kids who are out in the wilderness these days that these sort of "honour matches" are completely dead, but who knows.

Anybody else remember doing these back in the day??

 

Some stakers do dm's but it's all in the duel arena and you just stake gp with armor on

This is my biggest disappointment with how much RS has changed. The community used to be filled with loads of honest, decent people that you could trust. And back then PKing had a huge unwritten honour code that most people followed. Your rep & your clan's rep used to mean alot.

The duel arena would be safer due to amount of 12 year old kids that use there parents credit cards to buy d claws to pj your ass after a legit, respectable kill.

If I had a dime for every time I saw a nice legit DM in Edge lately, I would have hardly any dimes.

 

Yeah I used to do this, but I did it mostly in my noob days in 04 in F2P

 

Yeah, I wouldn't try to make a living off collecting dimes for DM's :laugh:

Yeah it seems like 04/05 was like the peak of this "honour" era of PVP. I quit sometime around 2005/2006 (can't really remember exactly when), and just came back 6 months ago. Its incredible how much the game and the community has changed

The only person I DM with anymore is my real life friend who has a twin account to my Barrows Pure. We just do it for practice mainly, not really staking each other.
