Useful minecraft inventions?

I have built things like

- Monster Trappers
- Sewage Systems

but thats it lol. I do not understand how people make elaborate inventions with redstone wire and switches. What are some useful things you guys have created?

 

The more time you play on Minecraft, the more things you discover and invent. It's just gameplay in my opinion.

 

I created a fortress with a waterfall entrance. Switches and whatnot push a big door out from the waterfall and it's epic.

You could also do big farms. Cactus/sugarcane farms are easy to set up.

 

I made a house out of lava. Not useful at all, but it's pretty badass.

 

I've made multiple Cacti farms before, and I did build a monster trapper which worked semi-effectively (except the slimes spawned near it).

 

Yea mine kept getting blown up by creepers, and never seemed to work right.

 

Mine was built underground, I literally spent 2-3 days carving out a 100x100 square (or w/e their spawn distance is) -> And that was using runecrafting (power miner) to assist... It would feed the monsters along water routes (from ~25 blocks out) to a water pit which the monsters could not swim up and would in turn drown. Spiders would hit cacti on the sides of our 5x5 enclosure and die... Needless to say we took the idea from a youtube idea (we modified a little bit), although I'm not sure if it would work anymore with the adjustments to how monsters react/swim.

If anyone wanted to help build it, we could more than likely replicated it in Moh's server... But we would need a lot of help.

 

I've built a few monster trappers.. One from bedrock to the sky. It worked pretty well, but if he should build it on Moh's server we would need water and lava, which isn't possible yet.

 

I've learn to make a mob grinder, a cactus house, sliding doors, bank vaults, and a calculator WITH a redstone torch monitor

 

I made a fortress with turrets and everything a couple of months ago

 

Water elevator was the funnest thing to make.

 

I'm gonna just spend a whole day on You-Tube eventually and look at all the inventions and build them. Can't be assed figuring out how to make it myself.

 

I made a elevator with pistons.

 

How did you go about doing this? Pistons are one thing I can't seem to get a hang of in minecraft.
