Another question, hehe. I've never been to Newcastle, but I heard it was really a sub-standard city, and not worth going to - like Blackpool. Is that true?

 

I think it's fantastic, and I think people that say it ''isn't representative'' of Newcastle (and its nightlife) actually need to go out. The 60 year olds complaining that it isn't representative probably haven't seen a geordie night out in a good twenty years; how do they know whether it's representative? I'd say whilst representative, it's obviously exaggerated, but I think any realistic viewer understands that. Like a couple of people from it, think the rest are arseholes. People in Newcastle have seen them around loads already - most of my friends have pictures with the cast on Facebook. As a programme, I think it's pretty funny and worth watching. It's nice to have the spotlight on Newcastle for once.

Best:
- Incredibly liberal country
- Gay nightlife is excellent
- Straight nightlife is excellent
- Incredibly privileged to live in a highly developed nation

- Only certain parts of England are great

It absolutely is not. I've never heard anything like that before, but Newcastle is miles above Blackpool - it is the true capital of the North. Newcastle used to be one of the wealthiest cities in the United Kingdom - it was an industrial hub during the late 19th century and up until the 1930s when it entered depression. Central Newcastle still displays the wealth of that era and is manifested in buildings we have; as such, central Newcastle is a fantastic looking place and wasn't particularly touched by WW2 bombings, whereas cities like Coventry were decimated.

Newcastle is the most extensive city for nightlife in the whole of the United Kingdom after London, and there's loads of fantastic venues here that Blackpool frankly lacks.



Newcastle is a fantastic and highly important British city - to compare it to Blackpool is an insult both to Newcastle and its populace. Not your fault, obviously, but the comparison itself is ridiculous.
