    Runescape not running smoothly?

Hey guys, I've always wanted a Runescape that runs really really smoothly in high detail but it has never happened for me.

    Specs:
    Intel i5 2500K 4.5GHz
    ATI HD6970 2GB Model - Sapphire
    16GB of G.Skill Ripjaws 1600MHz DDR3
    Seagate 1TB Drive

So I have no idea why my game never runs smoothly as much as this:

JUST AN EXAMPLE OF SMOOTH GAMEPLAY, NOT TRYING TO ADVERTISE

So yeah, if someone can help me out with running my game alot smoother please contribute.

    Cheers!

and as far as I'm aware my Java is up to date, yes.
Kero, at the time I tried to do something where I logged into an Aus world and see if it made a difference to my FPS, it didn't. :\

That i5 is whats really hurting you, replace that with an i7 and you'll be sure to see some notable performance improvements.

His processor is fine, switching from an i5 to an i7 is useless, unnecessary, and not cost-efficient.

I believe your problem lies in your internet, are you on a wireless connection? use http://speedtest.net/ to check your ping & upload/download speeds

Hitting that up, and I usually use Australian Worlds for Runescape, so I'm usually around 50 Ping or so.

This is Runescape... it doesn't stress your ram at all unless you have like 128 mb.

Do you mind playing in lower detail? It will result in much smoother gameplay for you if you fiddle with the settings a bit.

Holding the S key whilst RS loads will launch the game in "Safe Mode" which might help somewhat, also try switching between DirectX and OpenGL to see if you notice any performance increases.

My graphics card had issues rendering shadows in runescape, have you tried disabling those? or Dynamic Lighting?

The best way to do it is to put all your settings to a minimum and bump them up to how you like it.

    Best of luck.
