Its okay i thought same thing, awhile back, check around the internet and it doesnt matter, i beat those 138's and 137's with 30 defence against there 99 defence, if it did matter i would never have a chance.

Sorry I dont want to spam but I feel like this may help you in the future considering you got cleaned (probably from staking maxed people)

Defence does matter, and a pretty good amount. Magic and constitution are more important but it still matters. Defence increases your chance to be missed, AKA your chance to be splashed on, which is obviously incredibly important in mage boxing. Just because you beat 138s does not mean that defence does not matter, RNG is rigged. Trust me, I 2x pures on a regular basis. When I switch to fighting 75 deffers theres an obvious difference. I splash 80% on the 75 deffers, and I splash 25%-50% on the pures (which is why I 2x them)

I have noticed, though, that the use of SoL or master wand almost completely removes the usefulness of defence. So in this case, you are almost correct. Defence still slightly matters, but barely. Anyway, in mage boxing which is what you do, defence is very important.
