$325 Fine, Driving with no license

Alright so basically, My mom is on vacation. I took her car out at 3am for mcdicks, i wasn't speeding or anything.. Cop pulled me over because it was late, I had no license to present to him therefore I have a fine for $325. I am 16 years old, with no job or anything. I heard if you go down to city hall (when you pay fines). and talk to the justice guy you can have it reduced? Is this true ?? My mom just filed bankruptcy, and had my baby sister last night.. Do i tell her or keep it to myself ?? What do I do???? PLEASE HELP this is so much stress for the both of us..

 

There is no way to reduce the fine. The only chance you would have in reducing it would be if you wanted to take it to court and you had a good lawyer, which would be pointless since it would end up costing you a ton more money. Even then, chances are near impossible since the judge will still find you guilty. If you think you can make money by yourself then don't tell her. If not, then you don't really have a choice. I would put it off for as long as possible though, considering she just had a baby.

 

Yes there is a way to reduce it, one of my friend's has had his reduced or had extended time to pay it.

 

It all depends on how the judge sees it. You can tell him you can't pay it and try to make him feel sorry for you, but chances are slim. Driving without a license isn't taken lightly, especially if you're legally an adult. If you were 18, then you would have for sure gone to jail.

 

Either way you have to let your mom know as you're going to have to pay the fine with a parental signature. Fess up and let her know that you're going to cover it. If you really feel sincere about the situation, you should be making an effort right now to get a job as you're of legal working age. Mistakes happen and sometimes you have to pay for them. If you show your mother you're making an effort to pay for your mistake then maybe she won't be as flustered and frustrated. If you actually work to pay off this fine it should also teach you a self lesson of what you did and it can be self rewarding. If you make your case to the court and admit what you did was wrong and show them you're going to make an effort to pay it back then maybe an extension will be given to you.

He's not asking for donations, so why do you guys come up with a conclusion that he is trying to get donations? Kid's just looking for advice. And to be honest, I'd tell the story to a relative or a close friend. If you have an xbox 360 or anything electronic, sell the shit on Craigslist to pay for the ticket. Tell your mom you did a stupid and that you will pay for it.
