The end of Rares

Ok so just a hypothetical situation. What if jagex came out and said that in one month ALL discontinued items would become non tradable. Do you think prices would skyrocket because everyone would want one? Or do you think they would plummet because hoarders would want to cash in on there stocks?

Plummet, the people hoarding 15 sets each wouldn't want to be stuck with that.

No point asking the question though, Jagex has already said they regret the tradeable rares. But obv they won't take them out/make them untradeable.

 

Ya but I think some people would trade in all the wealth they have for the last opportunity to get there hands on a rare.

 

lol people who are saying rise need a reality check.
You dont just make 1-3B by mining rune ess; people who have partyhats either buy them for real money or spend/spent many hours merching for them.
Therefore, almost everyone who owns partyhats, and most other rares, are traders and merchers at heart, and only own them for the value, not for what they look like. They would all get rid of them as fast as they could. Prices would fall into the millions.

 

obviously plummet, as stated above. However, this scenario would never happen, rares are the backbone of the RS economy.

 

Rares would crash. I wouldn't even want one for 100m.

If they become untradeable, I wouldn't pay more than 50m for a blue.

When they become untradeable you're loosing theoretically whatever value they have when they become untradeable.

So if you had say a purple, let's say it's around 500m when it becomes untradeable that's a potential $325 lost. Chilling figures.

It will never happen, everytime some items will be more rare than others.

 

Crash and become junk, just like when free trade was removed.

 

so many people just use partyhats as an investment or to keep their money past max cash / max shards so they would drop but they would still fetch good prices I think but not as much as they are now like 80% decrease maybe more

 

They would crash terribly, but they won't do that because it will unravel the economy.

 

All of the hoarders out there would cry and dump all of their sets.

 

They would plummet
