    Family holiday, help!

So it's round about that time of year again, after nagging and pestering my parents since Christmas to book a Summer holiday early, they've yet again [for the 3rd year running] ignored my advice, and left it one month before we intend on flying.

This isn't the main problem though, none of us can agree on a destination.
At first I suggested one week in Cairo, visiting the pyramids etc. and then one week on sharm el sheikh, which is pretty much a beach resort with a nice night life. My parents both turned this down because of the humidity.

The two countries we're really looking at are Turkey & Cyprus, and have a budget of around £5000 [3 adults/ 2 children]

Any information on past experiences, good destinations etc. would really be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    ~Alex.

I'm not sure if Egypt is still in chaos, but may I suggest Australia? Has good night life and beaches. Also is peaceful and liberal.

I recommend visiting Surfers Paradise in Australia. I have been there many times and it is amazing! They also have many famous theme parks such as Movie World, Dream World, Wet 'n' Wild and Sea World. However, it is Winter here in Australia so I advise you go in October - January.

    I live in london :).

Couldn't really go Australia on our budget, flights alone would be £2000 per person +, and it's winter there :\. But i've definitely made plans to either visit there or the states next year with some friends.

Sort've looking around South eastern Europe.

    Family holiday, help!

i went to sharm el sheikh last year, stayed at hiltons sharks bay, was a very nice place. and through the place we stayed we was able to book a trip to get a coach from our resort to the airport and to fly to ciro and get a coach trip to the pyramids it was very hot in ciro and it was full of people trying to sell you stuff like t-shirts and badges and other touristy stuff, but it was very interesting seeing the pyrmids they are huge and i think there was a little pyramid that you could go in, im not too sure i think there is but im not 100% sure.

it was a very nice holiday, it wasn't very humid when we went, we went about this time last year though. The temperature was around 40 degress celsius
if you dont wanna go to egypt id go to italy i loved italy well, i loved it because we went up 2 volcanos and i really llike them :L but it was very nice if you're interesting in volcanos. :p

Cyprus is also very nice my dads gone there afew times to go bird watching :L but i don't know nothing about cyprus apart from the fact that coca cola is very cheap out there.

A final suggestion could be belguim, i went there with my school and it was so nice and chill :p and we went to the bellewaerde theme park which was pretty good :)

    Family holiday, help!

Protaras is a good place to go in Cyprus. I stayed there a few years back and it was a nice family area but with a decent night life, and also most tourist agency's run shuttle bus's during the night time to take holiday goers over to Agia Napa. The drinks and food there are all reasonably priced, and the bars and restaurants are extremely family friendly. While i was over there, my little sister was only 3 at the time and i don't think we were turned away from any bar or restaurant when we were out quite late (not drinking alcohol though, just there for the entertainment such as Hypnotists e.t.c.)

If you are interested in going to Cyprus at all and still need to book accommodation e.t.c. let me know through a pm and i will get a contact phone number for you for holiday villa's as my aunt and uncle live over there and work for a place which deals with them.
