what does posting the steamID actaully state ?

    hi

i'm new to selling steam accounts and i just wondered what the reason behind providing the steamID is ?! What does it state, what information does one gain ? because normally it is obscured anyways. You cannot revert it back to a steam community profile and check if it's actually an existing account.

Take this id for example STEAM_0:0:412xxxx2

now i know it was handled by the steam server 0 and the registration occured after 2005 due to the fact that it consists out of 8 digits. So what ? What do i actually know ? What is the reasoning behind posting this ID ? Wouldn't it be more logical to post the steam community page http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/uridhere

    pls enlight me
