I have not seen anything posted about this group in a while, and nothing in Something for All, so I thought I would start another discussion thread.

For people who have never heard of this group, heres the Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westboro_Baptist_Church.

Basically in a nutshell, they are anti-America. They FIRMLY believe all Americans are doomed because some states allow homosexuality, except for them. They hate anyone who is gay, supports homosexuality, or doesn't care to comment about homosexuality. They hold protests against gays, military personal, and Amish(they are fucking insane.) Their website has been hacked, church vandalized, and have multiple biker gangs out to get them. The group is fucking sick. They will attend dead soldiers funerals shouting and hollering even though someone has died serving the country the live in. I feel awful for all policemen who have to defend this group when people try to kill them. The family has been on the Tyra Banks show and Fox News.

The reason why I am bringing up this topic is because they were recently protesting Joplin, Missouri. Yes, the town that was just devastated by a tornado. They believe God condemned their town, and are protesting against the restoration of the town. Yesterday on Memorial Day, the WBC was protesting against soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery (again, I want to light these wakos on fire). Turns out the KKK, yes the Ku Klux Klan, came to ANTI-PROTEST the WBC. (http://gawker.com/5806819/kkk-counter+protests-god-hates-fags-church).

If you are curious about their lifestyle look up the eight part series on YouTube "The Most Hated Family in America."

The group possesses the right of free speech, but do they deserve it? If they hate America so much, why do they live in the country? I say no, and they should be deported. They are a group of crazy people, to put it lightly, that don't deserve to live.

I'm curious to see what everyone else thinks.

I'll leave you with this, to show you how much their hated: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZGKx2pTBQc

Karl and I share a deep hatred for these people. Regardless if you are religious or not the things that these people do is horrible and disgusting. They are a pathetic excuse for human beings and honestly deserve to die. In my opinion at least that is.

I just busted out laughing at the fact the KKK counter-protested them. That's great. My feelings towards the WBC are simple.. they're one of the very few groups on this planet that if a bomb dropped on their HQ and killed every last member, I would actually crack a smile. I think it's only a matter of time before they get seriously attacked for all the hate mongering they do. I'm just glad I live in an area far enough away from them that I have never and probably never will have to deal with them.

Their actions are only disgusting if you thoroughly repudiate the content of the ancient holy books from which they draw divine authority.

What a good role-model you are to the young children who look up to those in the armed forces.

They don't hate America, they hate the secular ethics that we have adopted. It's completely fallacious to acknowledge the existence of a "right of free speech," and go on to advocate its revocation from members of a particular group, as such negates what a right is in the first place. Your comment about deportation is probably one of the stupidest thing that I've heard in a good deal of time; these people are natural-born American citizens -- what do you mean they should be deported, and on what grounds? Exposing your religious beliefs as the bigoted nonsense they are? Being crazy (or, rather, having the sanity to believe a religious text as it stands) is not grounds for death any more than homosexuality is.

These people are taking the Bible at what it literally says -- when the Bible says that God will destroy people on his day of judgement, they believe it; when the Bible says that homosexuals should die, they believe it; and when America, a nation that has championed this set of anti-Biblical ethics, is attacked, they believe it was god's judgement. They offer a plausible interpretation of Christianity.

THIS IS THE PRICE YOU PAY WHEN YOU PROPAGATE NONSENSICAL RELIGIOUS TEXTS.

If religion is to be legal (as it rightly should be), then individual cults of it must be tolerated, so long as they do not incite violence, theft, nor any other criminal actions. To those of you on this thread inciting violence, or some form of legal action against this group, I pose to you the following question: where have they gone astray from the Bible?

They are natural born American citizens therefor they have the right of free speech, that's a fact. But I was calling to question whether they deserve it or not. They can interpret the Bible how they please, but times have changed. We don't burn witches or hang victims (in America). We are starting to accept homosexuality in our daily lives. Religious organizations have realized this and don't preach this because times are not the same as they were 2000 years ago.

Now I believe they should be deported simply because they are a disgrace to America. They have been known to stand on American flags at protests. Instead of trying to do something about our countries current "stellar ethics" they picket on roadsides with signs saying "Kill The Gays." Not only do they do this, but they stand outside military personals funerals with signs that say "God Laughs When A Soldier Dies," just because they don't believe the soldiers should be fighting for a country that allows homosexuality (in some states). This is very UnAmerican and highly inappropriate. Especially for their children, as young as five, to be doing. This is why they should be deported. They trounce on what our nation stands for, and expects the police (also stands for Homosexuality in a sense) to protect them in times of need. Ridiculous.

    Mentioned Above.

Which is damn well why they shouldn't. I'm a religious man but I've looked passed the discriminatory nonsense.

I will not tolerate people to expect to be given rights in this country when they protest the men and women who give it to them. They have not gone astray form the Bible, no. But there is a fine line that's drawn between exercising free speech, and insulting the men/women who give it to you. Do what they want in private, but don't expose the population to it.

Ive seen the people crying when they carry the bodies of the fallen off the plane.
How about the son who joined the army then had to go speak at his fathers funeral when an ied blew him apart while he was on a 4 wheeler.

You dont know shit bro, if someone fucks with any of the fallen in the military when im around im goin to fuck with you. simply put, most of us wont allow that bull shit to go on. So shut the fuck up until you know something bout it.

I didnt say id go in uniform and go at em, id just go and beat the shit out of a few.

^ exactly. They can post all their shit on youtube if they want, but when they start messing with people they are just insulting them.
me and my twin brother are both in the military. If my brother were killed overseas, and they were at his funeral, i cant guarantee i wouldnt take a baseball bat to every single little mother fucker over there. (thats if i didnt have a gun)

They're extremists, and really need to go away.
The fact they protest at soldiers' funerals really upsets me.
I've seen them protest twice during my life so far. I'll tell you, it was ridiculous.

Your argument presumes that the Western Baptist Church's ideals parallel that of the Bibles. The Bible is an abstract piece with conflicting interpretations. I simply find the WBP's interpretation disgusting.

I'm not even a soldier, and I know that I would do the same thing.

I'm not gay, but I support them completely. I have plenty of gay relatives and friends. What the Westboro Baptist Church believes is just horrid and I don't know how you even consider it a church.

The WBC tried to hold a protest in my hometown last year, but the high school organized a counter protest, and we threatened to stop their protest if they came. They never did come, but the counter protesters protested anyway, just to represent the people against the WBC

This isn't the price you pay when you propagate "nonsensical religious texts." If it wasn't a group being extremists about religion, than it would be because of something else, it just so happens to be religion in this case.

There isn't really a certain way to say, "they go completely based off the bible" and don't stray from it because the reason they have different types of denominations is from different interpretations, as you can see no other denomination (not even baptist) support this group or share their feelings, thusly this is just their sick and twisted interpretation.

They protested a military funeral of one of my friends who died in Iraq here in Michigan. We had anti Protestors prepared, when the funeral started we led the family down a clearing with large fabric type walls to shield the protestors from view, we also played (overly loud) music, I don't remember exactly but one of the songs was one of my friends favorite, and was our class song graduating high school, green day, time of our lives. But anyway, we did that so they couldn't hear the protestors either. All in all, it was a nice funeral service and the protests didn't effect the family much, if anything, it caused the community to come together that much stronger to support the family.

I think the biggest problem is people need to just ignore the protestors and stop giving them media coverage, all the publicity they get is exactly what they want, that is why they do this to such an extreme level I imagine.
