Words that nobody hears or uses

My word is Defenestration; The act of throwing something or someone out of a window.

Though, that's pretty obscure. I think defenestration was also used in a Cracked article.

I haven't seen anyone use the word egregious (Exceptional, conspicuous, outstanding, most usually in a negative fashion; Outrageously bad) anywhere outside of TVtropes.

 

Just read some medical/biology texts. Keep going deeper and the words will get more and more obscure.

 

This definitely true, just taking a gander at my sisters medical textbooks makes me wonder where these doctors pulled out names for certain conditions.

 

Yes, words of highly technological, medical etc. origin are obviously understood only by those who have studied the subjects. However, I felt that captain howdy was looking for more usual words, ie. words that carry every day meanings but have fallen out of common use, and as such are not understood by the general public. Often there are more common expressions for such words. I mainly use them when I feel like a dick and want to make someone google a lot before they understand what I am talking about.

I wonder if I'm making any sense, I haven't posted anywhere in a long while and everything feels odd.

Just look up proper drug names, or even play words with friends on your iPhone i keep seeing random shitty words iv never seen before and look em up.
