why do people keep overrating it?
sure you get a tiny extra experience, plus the boost from the helm
however, people claim that it's "great money", yet no task surpasses the 1m/h mark

Because most people never train slayer and prefer just killing monsters with the best xp/h drops/h and end up maxed with 50 slayer and regret it.
If you train slayer from the get go you will have it leveled up as high as your other stats, while still getting good xp, drops, charms and the slayer xp.

Also it can be a little more fun then normal training monotonous one spot training. But I agree with you. People should never give out slayer as the answer to best money making

    it has a nice cape
    its a fun skill
it trains your combat skills at the same time and people often suggest for others to do it so you don't max all your skills with a crap slayer level and then when you go to train slayer you are already max combat skills. Just more of a waste
yes the profit isnt amazing but its still profit none the less

That is exactly my point. I haven't said slaying sucks that much. However, people tend to overrate it a lot, mainly in the money making department.

Fun is subjective. I hate slayer.

Also, slaying with max combat isn't a total waste. There are people that max their levels to get optimun slayer speed.

oh no I agree with you im just saying that it's just a good skill to level your combat skills with slayer as your also levelling another skill, but ofc doing slayer with max combat is faster but just means you won't be lvling anything else :)

I believe slayer used to be better before the drops were nerfed, however most people simply prefer the change of whatever monster they are killing instead of camping at one place til they are maxed.

It's good for charms, experience, and money, but not exceptional in either category.

Slayer is not overrated. It definitely is nowhere near what it used to be, but it's still very good exp, a decent gradual source of income, and most importantly it is fun :)

I usually sell my Slayer drop tab every few levels and its always decent cash. I started collecting my current slayer tab around 88 or 89 slayer, and at 92 slayer it is currently worth about 30M with all the herbs, seeds, bones, hides, spores & flakes, runes, herblore ingredients, ores, gems, rune armour pieces etc.

Slayer is fun with turm, chaotics, ovls/extremes, high combat since it makes kills extremely fast. Also it used to be a great way of getting effigies, which most people used to train boring skills such as runecrafting and agility.
EDIT: Slayer monsters have a decent crimson and blue charm drop rate as well

PLEASE! read the whole thread before posting! :(

Slayer is generally overrated because people tend to think it's still what it used to be. You might know it's not, but that's like 1 person for every 5-6 people that are like "slayer slayer slayer".

Also, another thing that I never understood: what's the fun part of making a slayer tab?

Slayer is fun, diffrent tasks instead of killing the same ugly monster for days. Making a slayer tab is just fun to see how much profit you made when you're done.

It's just a variety from the usual runescape grind.

Most people find it more enjoyable compared to grinding away. It's fine that you don't but a large majority of people do.

It was much better once upon a time, like when Abyssal whips exceed 2-3m, etc.

The idea of a slayer tab is new to me, but it sounds like one of the funnest things to do in that skill. I like seeing a big tab of loot, that's generally one of the things people enjoy about dungeon crawlers like runescape

Why complain about a skill that nets over 300k total xp/hr? Sure, Slayer itself is slow, but the total combat/prayer/summoning/magic/ranged xp you get with it is pretty darn fast.

I wasn't a member in those days :/ That was the price when they were first released wasn't it? Before the Godswords and SS and stuff came out?

Then again, fun is subjective. I rather kill the same monster without paying attention, than doing, let's say, a spirit mage task.

Ik, I think I stated that on another post.

How? I wanna know how to get it, non-virtually speaking. :D

In my opinion it's a nice change because instead of doing the same thing over and over like most other skills, you get a new task all the time, and drops are always something to look forward to.
