    [Firefox/Chrome Add-on] Lazarus Form Recovery

(Note: I have only used the Firefox version of this, so keep that in mind if you're a Chrome user and want to try this out. This guide should still be very helpful, but there may be subtle differences on Chrome.)

This is one of my favorite Firefox add-ons of all time. It stores all the data you type into forms in a database on your hard drive, and can be accessed with a simple right click. That probably doesn't sound like anything amazing, but let me show you exactly how it's useful.

I get the most use out of it on Sythe, so I'll use it as an example. As I'm typing this, I'm filling out a form. A form is basically any place you can input information on a website.

There are several different reasons you might want to recover a form. I'll break it down into categories.

    Repetitive Input

On Sythe there are forms that I fill in the same way every day. Let's say I want to bump my middleman thread. I would go to that thread, right click in the reply form, and get this menu:

Then I choose the text I want to recover, click it, and it's put into the current form.

It also has the ability to recover forms with multiple places to input data. For example:

As you can see, it filled in the title as well as the thread.

    Accidental Data Loss

Ever write out a long message and then something happens and you lose it all? Maybe you accidentally closed the browser, or the power went out. A common occurrence on Sythe is getting an error message after submitting the post. "Sythe is down for maintenance", etc. If you have Lazarus installed, whatever you typed can be recovered instantly.

    Logins

Firefox already allows you to store a username/password combination for each website, but with Lazarus you can store multiple accounts for a single website.

    Searching the Database

You can also search your form database for things you typed in the past. Obviously, not everything you've ever typed into a form is shown when you right click on it. There's only room for 10 or so of the most recent things. If you want to look up things from months or even years ago, you can go to the add-on's options (Tools, Add-ons, find Lazarus and click Options). Then click on the Database tab, and Search Lazarus:

You can search for the website address or any word that you typed into a form, and it will show you all the times that the word appears in the database, as well as the date it was added:

Try it out, you may find even more uses for it than I did!
