    Lying.

Why do you lie? Do you lie to make yourself feel better? To make others feel better? To stay out of trouble? Do you think it's ok to lie, sometimes? Or never?

I'm not usually one for lying, as I try to keep it real. But sometimes, I can't help but to, just to make someone feel better. It's like instinct ..

I don't really get into trouble so I don't have to lie about that I just lie about stuff on the internet. :p When I'm bored that is, never on sythe though, typically just in RuneScape.

    Lying.

I have/do lie to make others feel better (more of a need-to basis, not just to please them/myself and gain favour).

I have lied to stay out of trouble countless times though I'm trying conscientiously to stop by:

    1) Not putting myself in sitiuations where I'd have to lie (e.g. playing video-games when I should be studying and then lying to parents ; though I'm well past that phase/age)

    2) Just being plain honest, lying is a very vicious cycle (as I've learned many times personally and from others)

I do think it's okay, maybe even necessary sometimes. I don't believe 99% of people who say they NEVER lie.

    Lying.

The thing about lying is, it's so much easier in the long run if you just don't do it. Then you don't have to remember things. So why is it that we as humans are so likely to do it?

    Lying.

I am pretty sure that me telling my boss and a few of my work mates that I think they are complete jack asses it wouldn't help me in the long run, it's easier to lie and pretend to be friends.

Apparently most people lie at least twice a day.

    Lying.

I lie because I favor the outcome of one scenario over another.

    Lying.

Well, yeah. But, like lying to a loved one about something that you did or didn't do. That kind of thing just comes back to bite you in the ass every time.

    Lying.

Not every time, but most of the time. Ideally I'd never lie or put my self in a situation to have/need/want to but sometimes it happens (though it's usually the person's fault).

Certain things lose value or relativity after time has passed, for instance if I was out kicking it with friends and my girlfriend was to ask why I didn't call her and it's our anniversary then lying about it at that moment would be okay and telling her the truth later down the road can be laughable (or serious) but much less tense than at that moment. Not that I'm advocating it, but sometimes it's the easy way out.

    Lying.

I mainly lie for one reason, to stop the situation from getting worse.

Sometimes when someone asks you a question, you don't need to tell them the 100% truth as it'll lead to more ramifications.

    Lying.

I lie to sometimes when it's necessary, I lie to get myself out of trouble. I don't usually lie but when something serious has happened from my actions and I was questioned, I would not say a thing about me being involved. I also wouldn't say anything if someone else was involved and I was questioned to say who exactly it was, I would say I don't know anything although I do know. I don't snitch ;o

    Lying.

There are certain situations where lying is applicable. For example, a surprise party or a gift. You could also be lying to save your friend because someone is after them. I don't think that it's ever lie if a truthful answer is necessary.

    Lying.

I read an essay about this at school. The writer classified it into 6 different types. (don't remember)
The essay said that without lies our society would fail.
Although there are lies tha tare unacceptable such as cheating on your wife/husband, some lies are acceptable.
When you see someone and they recently just got a haircut.
You know that it looks bad, but you tell them it looks good because you don't want to disappoint them, or hurt their feelings.

Anyways, there was alot more but that was all I could remember for now.

    Edit :
How about when one of your parents is dying, would you tell them that your brother went to jail or also got sick or tell them that they will just get better and everything in life is okay ?
