Why be an athiest?

Think this through.

Why would you be a athiest. You might want to believe there is no after life. There might be none, but what if there is? Why not believe in one just incase there is a after life and you fail to recieve it simply because you refuse to believe one. Whats wrong with a back up system for life?

Also for those that think I use him as a back up system, I don't, I really do believe in him, and I was stating that for others.

 

Thats what I always think of as a Christian.

I think atheist are either really smart or really stupid. But the majority that I have met are pretty stupid. That doesn't mean they are all stupid.

I see it as their choice if they decide not to have a religion.

 

You can't choose what you have confidence in the truth of. If you're just "being a Christian" so if if it turns out that there is a heaven you'll go to it, then there's no point. To be a Christian you have to BELIEVE in Jesus, which is something you can't force upon yourself. If you don't truly believe in Jesus, and yet call yourself a Christian, you're just lying to yourself.

 

Well, I can't really change my core beliefs, can I?

Also, there are thousands of different scenarios as to what could happen once you die. Which one is the correct one?

Athiests aren't stupid, Shredderbeam and Shawn_ I think are athiests, and so is dpunk, and they can debate quite well. But yes, sometimes I wonder why athiests think that way. I always thought thinking of a supreme being feels better, and believable at the same time.

 

To start, might I point out that life after death has nothing to do with atheism?
Also, might I point out that if you are not an atheist you will fail to receive Fabulous Heaven?

I do try to get people who arent Christian to just think it over again and think hard about it. I do not force them though. Up to them

If your a athiest it doesnt bother me if you are. Your life live it like you want to.

If your a TRUE CHRISTIAN DO NOT JUDGE OTHERS just because of there religion

 

Don't be so generally ignorant. Just because people don't believe in God doesn't give them a natural claim on intelligence.

wow dumbshit, athiests are dumbfucks? im 13 and however old you are I obviously have a larger brain capacity than you do. you just told us it takes someone with a higher level of intelligence to believe in something that can't be proven.

on topic! im an athiest for a few reasons:

1. it gives you a better sense of things around you that exist in your life, not a large forcus on things that arent involving your life.
2. i have come to notice that MANY athiest grasp the concept of life much better than those who believe in an after life.
3. id preffer to spend my time getting better at things i do and learning new things, rather than spending my life working for an after life.

 

I was referring to the posts above on how atheists were dumb fucks or dumb. I was saying that some atheists weren't stupid, but not always smart either. I wasn't claiming that they were genius or something.

 

Some people are because they can't prove that there is a god that exists, but others because it is not their core belief. I personally believe in god, but i see where some of the atheists are coming from with their arguments.

Atheism in no way offers an appreciation of life nor morality. And "truth" is what pretty much all religions are based on... so that's plain retarded.
