    Installing Apache Webserver on Windows.

Welcome to my guide on how to corretly install an Apache Webserver on windows.

The first thing you need to do is go here: http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi

You will see something like the following picture.

Click on the download link highlighted in red. It is only about 5 megs so it will not take very long, if you have a good connection.

When its done, run the installer. You should see something like the following picture.

Click "Next", and you should see this.

Click on the "I accept the terms...", then click next.

    Then you see this.

    Click next again.

Fill in this section like I did, in the following picture, if you only want to use your server for testing.

If you want to host your website on your server fill it in like this following picture.

Next you will see something like this.

    Select "Custom", then click next.

Now, click on "Change" in the red highlighted area, and then change the path to something simple such as "C:\server".

After you make sure the path is changed (Green highlight), click next (red highlight).

Now hit install. It may take a little bit.

Do not worry when a Command Prompt window like the in the next picture pops up.

Click finish and the install in complete.

Notice your new icon. Double click it.

From here you can start, stop and restart your server.

Now go into any broswer and type, "Localhost", you should see something like this:

if you do not see this, and instead you see an error page, you installed it wrong, or it just fucked up. post here and i may help you.

Now go to your desktop, right click it, go to new, then new shortcut.

Type in where you installed your server, then /htdocs, like this:

    Click next...

Put in the name for your shortcut... The shortcut will bring you to your server root, the folder that you put your HTML files. index.html is the default file that opens when you type just the doamin anme or local host.

I hope you liked this guide. Like always, please post suggestions and comments. If you need help, please post... If you think something is wrong, or something that needs to be changed or added to please, post.

    Thanks...

    SuF
