Old Suggestions.

So I was talking to x339 and he gave me permission to re-word/work some of the ideas he has had in the past. Also welcoming criticism!

This is not the most important one by far, but it is my favorite

Okay so this was my favorite just because it sounds the most fun! Now the part that got thrown off is that it sounded mandatory. Rather just have events and invite mods and normal players alike to come. I think having a Games mod(Go Noam!) was the perfect direction for this suggestion.

Okay now that my favorite one is over on to more suggestions!

Advertising.

Sooooo I really like this idea, but this would take some work. After thinking about it I believe it would be hard to get normal members to just advertise and the current mods keep busy as it is. Maybe if there was some one put in charge of advertising could have the job of implementing new ideas to advertising and executing ones that have already been decided on.

#2 is the thought of expanding sythe so that it is not dependent on Runescape.

#3 is a nice suggestion that I don't see any flaws in. If so point them out and I'll see if we can come up with ideas.

Also a Facebook page was mentioned last thread, but I believe n4n0 has already talked to Sythe about this.



So you are asking why are you re-posting these bat-turd!? Good question idk, but in all seriousness it is in case any thing was over looked and is also to get a better feel for the suggestions. Working on ways to actually implement and better the suggestions.


These next ideas are ones that we are waiting for vb4 - I think?


Referral Competition.

Add a Diablo 3 Section & Redesign the Games section

(is the thought of expanding sythe as to not be dependent on Runescape. I am almost positive I will have to debate this one xD.) was lazy so I just copied and pasted from before. I don't actually go to games section, but some people in the last section said redesigning the games section could be beneficial.

Kinda correlates with Diablo 3. More sections like Diablo 3, Tera, Gw2, or maybe even work on smaller games from similar sites a section for aeriagames.com that has players but not much of a market for people who want to buy accounts or even just discuss. Advertising and current member's interest factor in what will be successful or not.

The reason I posted these on this thread is to iron out any kinks. I think these have enough support, but if there are any suggestions for x339's suggestions please let me know.



So while this is a suggestion thread bringing light onto old suggestions I would also like it to be a feedback on suggestion threads lol. I am not here to deny challenges, but to welcome debates to see on what can be improved and what is a waste of time posting.


I might be gay for posting this, but I think there are some good suggestions that may have been over looked and plus I don't mind helping x339 out.

I think an advertising team could greatly aid the site and its revenue. I was actually thinking of posting a suggestion on this point. And my advertising i mean in game and other free methods, not paid advertising.

This is actually a very helpful idea. Even my stepdad(Who is 32) buys cards for aeriagames and plays daily. This could not only get the usual crowd that's drawn in, but also an older and more underground community. Would definitely take advertisement though. Maybe even a Faceboook game section is in order for big name games? Just an idea. But I like where this is going.


The advertising idea is a great one too, and definitely one I remember from x339's original post. All of my cousins and friends all play Diablo 3 and waited months and months to get their hands on it. Also, since black market trade isn't nearly as cracked down as Runescape, and RWT is actually encouraged(To an extent). Not to mention that there is quite a large amount of money to be made off of accounts and items to die hard players.

 

I don't really like the other suggestions, but I'd definitely like to see new sections added to the Market.

The biggest problem is that sythe at the moment isn't really much more than a runescape underground market. The other sections are pretty much dead. The hardest part would be to lure people here who have never actually played runescape. I doubt many people who play wow/d3/etc... have ever heard about sythe.

 

Yeah I agree...the sad fact is almost all of the situations we can try to come up with mods have probably already thought of. I guess that shouldn't stop us from trying though. I'd like your feedback as to why you don't like the other suggestions if you wouldn't mind. Not trying to prove you wrong, but would like a different aspect.

 

Goes back to the original advertising idea that x339 had. It would take alot of stress and a system would need to be made, but advertising Sythe and spamming out worlds and servers with links and info to willing people could be what it takes to grow our other sections and make us branch out from just the Runescape market.

I don't play any of the other games in the forums though, so I really cannot help with this much. Exploring/expanding our Runescape market could never hurt either though.

 

In my opinion staff isn't here to help us have fun, but to keep this website running.

Spamming "www.sythe.org for all your rwting needs" in other games won't really help. It's, as x339 said, a dirty tactic, and I don't like it.

I'm against this because of what mods said in the original thread for that suggestion. It would take too much effort, there would be too much abuse.

 

hmm you didn't read the thread lol.

Like I said it would be just for staff that want to have some fun and come. Not mandatory just if some one comes.

We wouldn't spam stuff like that...thats the reason I left that suggestion out of this thread.

The original thread nano and verts liked the idea if I am not mistaken. if hard work equals a more active site it might be worth it.

I certainly agree with the statements regarding staff members being more involved with community events. The staff are generally pretty good at staying with the community and continuing to communicate to the sites members, they don't distance themselves from us at all. But it would be really nice to see them getting mixed in with us in games, competitions and all those sorts of things more often.

I'm personally not a fan of a referral competition - at least an official one. The efforts that would need to be invested into it, to keep up to date with Sythes HUGE community, as well as looking for abusers who are just creating new accounts, it's a lot of work for the staff.

 

Agree with adversiting. Rarely see any new users anymore, or any new large market traders wanting to get a foothold on Sythe. I cant judge and say 'Sythe is dying', as I haven't been here long enough; but from what I have seen, it is definitely not growing.

 

Are you sure? It seems the amount of members on the site is growing faster than before. It didn't feel like too long ago we reached 200K members, now we're well over 300k.

According to Google Trends, things have been pretty much at the same level bar free trade and the wilderness returning in February 2011.



Nevertheless, new members are always nice.

 

I see new users all the time, i'm looking at one right now.

Anyway, i agree with the expansion of other markets other than the runescape one. Sythe trading is like 75% runescape orientated but i beleive if it grew more into the other sections, League of legends, WoW, ect, there would be alot more sythe members and traffic.
