My RuneScape Story.

Just felt like sharing my sad, shitty Runescape story.. IT IS a sob story.

I am 20 years old, i will turn 21 next February. I have quit Runescape several times for different reasons.


I first heard about Runescape in late 2002. I was at my cousins house, and we were talking about "Age of Empires" (an old computer game if your not familiar with it), and he started telling me about this other online game that he played with his neighbor. It sounded pretty cool to me so i asked him to show me.

So, he logs onto his level 33 account, and starts walking around Lumbridge. He starts explaining everything to me, about skills, combat levels, items, etc. He tells me, "see that guy with tha blue armour, thats tha best." I ask him, "what is that crown on that guy?" and he says, "thats a partyhat, they are tha best item on tha whole game."

So, tha next day when i got home i went and created an account. I started playing with my cousin and his neighbor, and they were helping me out as i went along. A few months pass by, and i have killed elvarg, and got my set of full rune, and began merchanting. I merched everything from armour, lobby certs, coal certs, and when i got members, i merched super sets, etc.

Well, one day in Fally park i met another player who would change my Runescape life. He started telling me about a trick he had been wanting to use on people, and he thought he could make alot of money. I agreed to help him.

Tha concept was simple, but genious, because at that time, not alot of players knew any better. We used tha item "SGG", now "Short green guy". Its a gnome drink if your not familiar with it. One of us would go to one side of Fally, saying "buying SGG 75k!!" for about 3 or 4 minutes, then walk away. Well, then tha other guy would come by saying "Selling SGG 50k". Boom easy 50k. We did this for a couple of days and made a couple mill each. Please note at this time, santa hats were around 150k, and mask sets were 500-700k. So, we started investing in santa hats and masks.

We continued this for some time, and between tha two of us, we had.. im estimating now, close to 30 santas, and i dont know how many masks, several. About this time my cousin had quit, just because he was losing interest in tha game in general. SO, it was pretty much me and my scam partner.

One day i came home from school, and my mother had found out that my grades were shitty in school, so i was grounded for 3 months from tha phone and computer. I got on and told my scam partner about it, and gave him my rares, because we always handed them over to tha other, just to look cool mainly. I told him good luck, ill see ya later.

I got on every now and then when my mom wasnt on, and he had all tha rares, offered to give me my share back a couple times, i just said wait till i come back for good and well start scamming again. Well when i was ungrounded i logged back in, waited a couple days, and to this day, i have never seen him log back in. After tha first couple days i thought maybe he put me on ignore, so i got on my cousins account for a week, and never saw him. I tried recovering his account, since i knew some information about him, and i was told it was banned.

So, there i was pretty much broke. I started playing legit again, because i had no partner to play curruptly with. After a while i merched a bit of money back, made a little bit luring, i had about 4m cash. One day in fally east bank a high level player was quitting, she was saying trade me for free items, so ofcourse i did. She gave me a little over 1m worth of items, which at tha time was alot, especially for free.

Some time later i had about 6m, and i saw someone yelling, "selling purple phat!!" i rushed to my bank, got my cash, and every junky item i had in there and traded it all to them, and they accepted. I literally jumped out of my chair i was SO happy. There i was, about level 50-60, wearing my purple phat, with my black platelegs and black chainmail. I was straightup, tha coolest person in runescape.

At that time i pretty much quit merching and everything, i would just run ALL around runescape, listening to people compliment me on my partyhat. After a while i got a little bored of tha game myself, and this is where i made tha biggest mistake of my life. You guessed it, i sold my purple partyhat. At this time i didnt understand, that items prices WILL fluctuate, and especially discontuned items. I had no idea it would go up, for some reason i thought that it would be better to just have coins on my account instead of what i always wanted..

So i sold my purple for 13m to someone, and im thinking i made an awsome merch. So i quit for some 3 years or so, and i come back and find, no wilderness, no trade, and partyhats were like 300m+. I saw someone wearing some strange rune helm with coulorful things on it (heraldic), and i asked him where he got that. He tells me, at tha GE. I say "wtf is tha GE?" and he tells me where to go. So im checking out tha GE, looking at prices and trying not to cry because i sold my purple, and i see masks were under 20m. So i buy me a nice green mask for 14m, and sold it for 17m. 2 weeks later it jumps to 70m. At this point im like ok, God obvisouly doesnt want me being successfull in this game. So i quit for a few more months.

I come back again, start playing legit, botting small things here and there, and just never could find another sweet break like i had gotten so lucky finding before.. Today, i have my main account, which is level 110. It has a fairly low bank, especially compared to most other players who have played for aslong as i have.

If you made it this far, i truely commend you, because im sure it took you a good few minutes to read this. =P Everyone has bad luck, but in my case it stretches further than Runescape. I have all around bad luck.

But, thats my story on how much ive been fucked.. I still try to recover my friends old account to this day, but i must not know enough information. If i ever could get it, im positive it would have a nice bank waiting on me.

your post sounds ridicolous never have phats been 13m so why would you think youmade mad money if you were a good merch?? you would of had to known somewhat prices =o..

none the less sorry its a game though it happens iv lost over now a days 10G+ back then a few bil.. hackers/scammers/friends/bad trades dumb decisions etc

oh yea bubby iv had it worse then you trust me.. iv wanted to kill myself back as a preteen about runescape plenty time..

but im an adult now and still dabble with rs after a 3 yr hiatus and just bot gold and skills.. Im over it and it isnt a sob story.. I call it the great fucking time iv had playing rs over the years its been a roller coaster and I would'nt change it or cry about it FOR NOTHING.

Im not claiming to have had tha worst luck or anything, i dont exactly believe your story either, due to your spelling for tha most part. But your entitled to your story like i am, and im not gonna sit here and try to one up you.

I just shared it, because some people enjoy reading things like this.

and lol my stories 100% legit as im sure yours is..
just saying parts of it sound goofy to me but as you some of mine to you as ewll..

What a story, I read half of it then desided i aint gonna read it all. Age of Empires is fucking my favourite game! same with age of mythology.

 

Party hats use to be 3-9m my friend [ 3m being red the cheapest in rsc, 9m being blue the most expensive] obviously you haven't been on the block very long.

 

I remember when masks were 13M and I still couldn't scrounge 13M up.

 

That does suck I always hear how people sold their rares early and regret it later on.
Could have made a decent amount of cash but thats the past now.
Nice story man. I remember when santas were around 7m green mask was 4m etc. Party hats were around 30-70m though so guess you played way before I did.

Yeah well when RS2 came out I transferred back 2 phat sets because I preferred classic. Can't even log on that account anymore so yeah fuck my life

I remember buying a Santa and a green mask for reaaaaaaaaally really cheap way back when RS2 first came out. I sold them a bit down the road before I quit for a few years and probably made 10M off both combined items, which was a TON of money for me at the time. Unfortunately I was just way too young and stupid to understand that rares would only ever continue to rise. I really didn't have the slightest clue about how the economy worked at all.. Well long story short - I come back to RS about 3-4 months ago and start playing all day again the way I used to. I was absolutely FLOORED to see how fucking expensive rares are now, and aswell, how fucking rich everybody is these days! Still kicking myself in the head over that 1...

 

I remember when phats were cheap. I remember when blues use to be 18m and purple was 7m. Back then I tossed them around like it was nothing. Now I just wish I wasnt greedy back then and actually kept them all.
