    Paypal Chargebacks/Disputes - PLEASE HELP

A scammer chargebacked 5 cases totaling over $300 yesterday. These transactions all happend early June.

What I don't understand is that they chargebacked payments sent by gift, isn't that unauthorized disputes? They also chargebacked payment sent for goods. Can I argue a case saying that this inconsistency in chargebacks obviously shows that they are trying to scam me? Also, I thought there was a 45 day period in which they can claim chargebacks?

What can I do to make sure I win these cases? I am not supposed to mention the payments were for virtual goods right? So pissed off right now..

EDIT: The person also has an invalid email address linked to their paypal... meaning I can't contact them. Apparently this user tried to chargeback on all the people she bought from, can't paypal look into that and find that she is pulling these scams? I mean her email address is fake and her paypal is unverified.

Also if my paypal balance was less than 300 and she chargebacked over 300, will they withdraw the remaining paypal funds from my bank?

Okay basically a chargeback can occur within i believe 60-180 days but I'm not entirely sure on that. Any money sent can be charged back if it was funded by a credit card. If the chargeback amount is greater than your balance your paypal will go into the negative and everytime you receive money the money will go to making your balance zero and if the balance is negative for too long then they can take money from your bank account. You can try telling paypal the user has a fake e-mail and is charging back everyone she bought from, and maybe they will look into it but I don't think it will work.

    Okay thanks

Are there specific information I should tell paypal? I havent responded to the cases yet since I don't want to end up saying stuff that can work against me (such as telling them the payments were for virtual goods)

They will not withdraw it from your bank, you will need to pay it by yourself (if you will not - then they will probably do this).

Suggestion for the future, never sell expensive items via Paypal for a person you do not know (unless you do this via Ebay), if he pays via credit card and/or you are not sure if it is his Paypal account. If selling RuneScape items for not so trusted members, use Player Auctions instead.

Yes, provide the information that you have been scammed, provide the chatlogs and other information you have.

It is your money, fight for it.

Thanks WeRnIS, yeah of course I am going to fight for it, but if I provide chatlogs doesn't that prove that the transactions were for virtual goods? I don't think paypal rewards money for chargebacks regarding virtual items

Provide everything you can to paypal. I suggest in the future, if you continue to do paypal trades, to record or screenshot every aspect of the trade, that way you can at least cover your own ass. Other than that, chargebacks are difficult to win. I wish you the best of luck.
