New rule in account upgrading selection

In light of recent events the staff have collectively decided to implement a new 72 hour Upgrade period -

ALL Upgrades and related services MUST be applied and completed within 3 days (72 hours). Any proceeding scam reports after this period of time WILL hold legitimacy, and guilty members will be permanently banned.


This new rule will have a slight leniency so long as the seller has a legitimate reason, though frequent disregard will not be tolerated.
If you are expecting to be away or absent from Sythe for an extended ammount of time, then you are required to indicate this in the original post of your thread and cease ALL sales of upgrades until you return.

I can't get the point of this rule, you guys just gave more power to scammers. They can't be reported within 72 hours of the trade, in 72 hours they can scam XX amount of people (before they could only 1-2) without people even knowing they were scammed (until 72 hours pass by). Also if you pay for service which can be done in 2 mins why do they have 72 hours to upgrade your account?
+ Account upgrading selection has ALOT scammers.

What do you guys think?

 

72 Hours is way too much. I'd say 12/24 hours max. If you're not around, you should indeed put that in the post. Support, but reduce the time.

 

The context behind the implementation of the rule was when PayPal was being paid in advance as a prepaid expense towards an account upgrade. What people use to do was PM their account info to the seller, and prepay with PayPal. The seller may, or may not of been online at the time. The rule was if the seller doesn't respond in 72 hours, then you can file a scam report and have the time elapsed weighted in your favour.

Such a rule however, is moot as everyone applies upgrades instantaneously nowaday.

I'd prefer a complete scrapping of the sticky, as, no one to my knowledge upgrades accounts like this anymore.

Doubt people are still PMing their account info to upgrade sellers either way since free trade.

 

If this rule means: The Upgrade must be applied 72 hours after the payment has been made, then I support. It should not take someone so long apply the upgrade assuming he is legitimate.

However, if this rule applys to 72 hours after REQUEST of the upgrade, I don't support. As a previous upgrade shop account owner, Its not always easy to contact someone via msn to do the trade. The main problems I have come across are: Timezones, Internet problems, Electricity problems and real life events with friends. I know that there are definitely a lot of scammers on the upgrade section, however a there is a very simple solution: Common sense. If you apply common sense to decide who you are going to do the deal with, I doubt you'll have many problems.

There are ways of telling how legitimate someone is, Vouches, Postcount (obviously), age of sythe member, but also how there thread/signature/avatar is presented. In my experience, I have learned that if you trade with someone who has a nicely laid out thread, they are more likely to be legitimate. It shows that they are willing to take the time to selling their service. If they were scamming it would be a waste of a thread design, time and perhaps money just to scam a few people.

 

72 hours is good imo. It gives enough time for busy sellers to get all their upgrades in with out scammers getting away with to much. Plus users should always check scam reports before trading with a user.

 

This rule should be only for prepay with paypal... If you pay with rsgp you should get your upgrade instantly. You can never say: "this user won't scam me"!
Since most people pay with rsgp and they need upgrade assap. If they have enough time to take rsgp from you they should have enough time to apply upgrade too right?
Even trusted users become scammers tho right? Now they can easily grab 300M + (in 72 hours) from pin buyers and not apply upgrades (they get baned but still they scammed nice amount of money).
Guide how to scam? sell few upgrades legit, when you get enough vouches just take preorders and scam... I bet this is going to happen.
Don't understand me wrong, I am not making anyone to do this, just giving reasons why the rule isn't good Coz it's making upgrading 2 risky.
check scam subforum? You can't even know you were scammed for 72 hours after the trade and so you can't warn anyone about the scammer.

I want to hear opinion of mods/admins which made this rule...Good points of the rule? Coz i see mostly bad ones :S

 

Yea but I think his theory makes some sense, as in a scam report couldn't even be made for 3 days after a scam due to the rule.

 

Not going to lie, I agree with this.

I haven't purchased many upgrades but I [personally wouldn't send anyone money via paypal if the person wasn't online anyway.

 

Those are probably the worst way to tell if someone is legitimate, besides their vouches. Nothing else matters.

Anyway, I support, no one uses that method and I believe it was only added because of Discovery.ch.

Support this is a great idea and needs to be implemented.

 

i support the idea but i think that 72 hours is to lenient i think, make it 24 hours
