This community needs to get better.

Though I have been here for only a short time, I spend a lot of time lurking through the forums.
While lurking the forums I have discovered many things.
There are way too many scammers on here.
It's a bit too much scamming imo.
Perhaps the staff should attempt to do something to stop the expansion of this scamming?
Yes, the staff does a lot as it is but could they perhaps do anything to decrease the amount of scams that go on?
I have noticed that even the trusted scam on this site.
I came across an OMM who got banned as well as various Moderators.
I went through the archived RAS threads for Xcel (I think that was his name).
He was a trusted staff member and supposedly scammed $500 for a Steam account?
Also, he scammed for $5 ($15 trade, only completed $10 worth for the customer).
I might not have it all figured out but I get the basic idea.
Sythe needs to do something to stop the scammers in this community so that they don't receive such a bad reputation.
What are your thoughts on this?​

 

Materialism and dishonesty is and always will be a fault amongst man -- especially on the internet. Whilst scamming can't really be controlled, encouraging users to MM and such will help reduce the chance of a scam. It comes to down to smart trading and using your head (common sense) most of the time.

 

^that. i wish people were more trustworthy but they aren't. i recently got phished and it amazes me how someone could do something like that. but i guess thats why world we live in, right?

and sythe has the best rs community by far. if you actually get to know them, there are some fantastic people on this website.

 

D God, I will pay you $20 if you come up with a reasonable way to stop scammers.

It's been thought out many times before. The staff are doing everything they can do.

Telling people they need to get better isn't exactly helping anybody. Maybe if he gave suggestions for improvement.

 

There really is no surefire way to stop scammers 100%. There will always be a small amount that will attempt to become trusted then scam the other party.

 

He tried to help. I realize he didn't help anyone, but he is trying in some way.

 

There's nothing rude about honesty. I'm usually a very straightforward person, so if he wants to take offense, that's his problem. There have been countless threads like this, all saying the same thing and all receiving the same answer, and what I find most disturbing is that so many people lack the intelligence to make out WHY scammers exist and can never be fully controlled.

And this. Everyone's like "The staff should do better," but what they don't realize is e-crime is something that will always exist, as will poverty.

 

You could have said it a little better though? I realize scammers will always exist, maybe for some apparent reason he wanted to inform users about the scam rates on Sythe. I know we all know scammers will exist and cannot be fully controlled, he is trying to help though. I realize he isn't helping at all by not suggesting anything, but he is trying.

 

Honestly this thread serves no purpose, if you have a legitimate criticism of something about the forum, then do so in the feedback section. If you have an idea on how to improve it, use the suggestions. But if you want to pointlessly complain without offering any useful ideas, then feel free to hit up the spam forum, but this thread is not needed here nor does it have any beneficial function.
