Jagex is WAY too strict with recovering

Jagex is way too strict for recovering RS accounts. It's like, sure, you can get people's accounts from it, but seriously, you don't have to ask for EVERYTHING. And if someone doesn't give you any less than anything they don't get their forgotten password back? Jeeze. Ease up a bit. Anyone agree with me? I think it's way too much information required for a simple account. I mean, a PayPal attached to a credit card may be recovered with a simple recover, but with Runescape accounts there's no actual surefire way to get that one account back, and it pisses me off. I hope I'm not the only one.

    /rant

tl;dr = jagex asks too much for recovering an account.

To an extent. They're really strict on them because they know that they're a lot of young, teenage boys who are always looking for new accounts to play on. If they got bored one day and started guessing their friend's information, they could possibly get all of it correct and have access to their account.

With Paypal it's a bit different. People know in real life situations like these can get a person in trouble with the law.

But the thing that pisses me off the most is that there isn't a 100% guarentee on getting your account back, and that's the only part that pisses me off, especially if you're the original owner.

I always thought they were pretty lenient.

If you have the original I.P. from where you created the account, then you have close to a 99% chance of getting it back.

Basically what I'm saying. It sucks that even if you're the original owner, why the hell would you even remember or try to remember or even keep track of the time you moved, or the join date, or whatever it is. Like seriously, account that was mine, got scammed by someone else:

    1) Filled in all membership info
    2) All previous passwords that I could fill in
    3) ALL recoveries
    4) Contact info
    5) Email code

I didn't get the account because I didn't have the join date. The fricken join date. That's what pisses me off.

Really? Hmm. And if you're trying to recover an account a couple years old, you're not going to remember the I.P. when you created it unless you so happen to right it down, just saying lol.

It seems like contact info and payment info matter a lot. Its very random whether the account gets recovered or not though, I've seen it go both ways a lot =/

They're a pain in the ass. I could recover an account that was made on my IP but my friend was playing on. But an account that I had been playing on for like 6 years and was made at my friends house it took me about 3 tries to recover after I lost half the bank <.<

It's kinda luck game whether you get it back or not. For example, I tried to randomly recover an account I saw ingame, got it.

Tried to recover my main account, filled all previous passes, recoveries, membership details and join date, didn't get it.

    Fuck off.

^^ I Don't believe that you recovered a Random Account.

Yeah, I agree. Someone tried to recover my main a few months ago and it got locked. So I tried to recover it but I wasn't sure of all of the information so I sent the appeal in anyways. It got denied so I tried again, and again and again. After about 10-15 tries I finally got it back. I have no idea how i got it back because all I did was alter the information slightly. So either you have to get the right "combination", or it's random. I'm going with random.

Did, the account's name was Muumipappa50.

Try yourself, it may sometimes work. I submitted previous passwords at like "Runescape, rs4ever, apple" or something like that. Try those common passes.

Yeah, I've heard passes like "purenoob" or "woodcutter" or even "pizza" doing the trick for some people.

Yeah, I agree with you, they're too strict. If you have recovs, email and previous passes you should get the account back tbh.

I have all old passes (including first), 2 sets of old recoveries, old membership pin, credit card details and last 4 digits, email and post code, 4 old IP's including the first, creation details, 2 different Internet Providers used and I CANNOT recover that anymore. I was keylogged a month earlier and I guess they got most of the information and I was able to recover it day in and out for 2 and a half weeks but now I cannot get it, its been a month, I've tried using a different IP but I still cannot recover the account, all it says is the query was not detailed enough, it doesn't even say that I am missing any details as it normally says what you are missing.

I guess they think that the hacker is the original owner as I had only been playing on the account from my current IP for 2 weeks before being keylogged.

I can see both sides towards the situation, but I'm leaning more towards their side. Pretty much, if you're the original owner, it should be no problem recovering. You should know the original passwords, original recoveries (for other info), your membership info (since they tell you to keep it) and ISP. If you have all that it's fairly easy to retrieve your account.

Story - I have purchased 1 account successfully on Sythe, way back when I first came here. After awhile of having it, I purchased some gold from R2Pleasant and I got banned with RWTing. When I appealed I claimed I was hacked and my appeal was denied with the account locked. A little over a year ago, my cousin somehow manages to recover the account (with no information) to find it unbanned. Lucky eh?

    Also, 777 post.

I completely agree. They ask way to much to get your account back. It took me a total of 4 tries to get MY account back. I am the original owner and it still they made me do 4 appeals :/
