It may not seem like a big deal, and I'm sure it's not, but I was just perusing and figured I'd mention this...

    http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=890227

If you look there, he says part of the text he wants is '100% legit trader'.

Now, I don't know the guy, and I'm not trying to pick on him, I really don't care enough to go about searching for other instances though I know for a fact many people use similar tactics, but I think things like this should be restricted. Again, it's not much, but if you're going to put something like that in your signature, and you scam, couldn't it be seen as the site supported this person for allowing them to falsify such claims?

What I think could be done is at least semi-decent restrictions on use of such in signatures/threads. An official middleman would be able to use something like this, though they would probably just use their title, a staff member might use their title, and/or people like Spyike before they were promoted.

Even he told the complete truth, he never said he was 100% trusted, he just showed his numbers, and such which was not a lie and didn't try to claim something that might not be true. I understand that it's up to the people to believe such claims or not, but I do think they should be stopped where seen otherwise it may seem like the website takes more action in scamming retribution rather than scamming prevention.

    Just my two cents.

Quick Edit: It's kinda like having false vouches... or self vouching... and action is taken against that.. so..

Y'know, technically the guy would be 100% legit if he had one good trade and no bad trades. It's marketing, bro.

It really does irritate me to see leechers saying they are trusted, or someone with 10 vouhcesnsay they are the best pin seller on sythe.

False Advertising is not marketing, it's pre-meditated scamming. 'Bro'.

It's irritating, I'll agree. but it's technically not false advertising. If the guy does 1 legit trade and has 0 bad trades, simple math states 1/1 = 1 = 100%. I'm just trying to play the devil's advocate anyways.

Oh, by the way, thanks for the "typical RSBot staff" flame. I guess just being an ex-staff member there automatically makes me an asshat, right? <3

I could have claimed I was 100% legit when I signed up here, because well, I really was.

Also on paragraph 2 you can't hold the site responsible for what people do.

Truthfully I don't see the point of these suggestions where people are requesting things like "legit" in thread titles and what you're suggesting to be banned. i will agree it's annoying when someone with a couple of vouches and 40 posts or whatever do this, but that's really all it is, annoying.

A few weeks ago we had a debate in staff lounge about what should be allowed to have in thread titles. It turned out they should be allowed to have anything up for the individual to decide, like trusted, or legit. Users are, however, not allowed to have things like [mod] or [omm] unless they actually is that.

I suppose this is the same for users signatures. Oh, and Major raised a good point. It all depends how you're interpreting it.

It's annoying, but as many other people have stated.. It's not false advertising etc.

One thing that does annoy the hell out of me though is this:
Signatures like that annoy the hell out of me^.

Same thing for me, and I think the majority of people with that in their signature, are most likely scammers just trying to look legit :\
    Edit:
Another thing that annoys me, is when someone donates $5, and then uses that to manipulate noobs into thinking they are uber trusted. Tbh, when I see that $5+ donator status, it just makes me think that person just might be a potential scammer, however when they have a relatively high post count, plenty of vouches, and have been here for a while, and may have only donated $5 or so, I feel I can trust them. :)
