Why do people who are 'Trusted' get a second chance?

Now, i've been here for about 6 months & i've seen a fair few 'trusted' people banned, but then unbanned?

Now, i know if it was me and i did something wrong. I'd be banned perm without a real chance to explain myself.

I've seen alot of trusted members who have talked there way out of situations. I cba naming people.

I just think because i don't speak that much. I mean now and then i go on Tinychat, but i don't suck up to mod an Admins like come people on this site..

I think it's bullshit, You do something wrong. You take the punishment & Mods/Admins should give it to 'Trusted' people with out giving them a chance to explain themselfs..

Nobody gets a second chance. Some bans are precautionary, such as Hahanerd's and Syeds, and after a decision has been made they may have gotten unbanned.

Anyone else would not have got the second chance that Syed did.

Any other user would have been given the usual 'your IP your responsibility' speech and left banned.

 

Another user (1234567asdf) was caught with the same IP as Syed (except there were less matched IP's) and he was unbanned.

 

But why? There was ban evasion on those IPs, correct?

If that's the case, why isn't the 'your IP your responsibility' rule being put in to play with regards to this?

 

It was a VPN (proxy) so there was a chance that Syed had simply been using the same one 1227 had been using and it was decided to give him the benefit of the doubt.

 

Some people are good assets to the community and before perm banning them, they have to take it in some consideration as they have helped the community a lot and deserve the right to have a second look on things, some have consequences but are let off, some do not. You can't expect someone with 12 posts ban evading an account have a big discussion on the staff lounge over his ban.

 

Skele, if the exact same situation happened with someone with say 500 posts that's really working their ass off and doing a decent job with trades, they would be given the 'your IP your responsibility' bullshit if they weren't known by a staff member.

Regardless of whether someone is 'a good asset to the community', rules are rules are they not?

 

The exact same situation did happen with someone else, 1234567asdf, and he was unbanned. If the matching IP had not been a VPN, Syed wouldn't have been unbanned (that doesn't mean we're not going to do anything about shared accounts if you have the same proxy).

Point being we paid more attention to Syed ban and thus came to the conclusion that is was just a proxy?

 

That if it were any other member he would have banned no matter what..

In the past few months I've been seeing members getting unbanned when they were banned for perfectly elgible reasons. Sythe staff has really lightened up..

 

Like I said, a normal user did get unbanned under the same conditions as Syed.

Nobody has gotten unbanned if the ban was warranted. If you'd like to discuss a specific case, be my guest.

I found an IP match, but forgot about the Sythe server upgrade where everyone was going through something like a proxy.

 

Everyone makes mistakes. After some further looking into it, Blupig decided that Skele had to be wrong and I saw that the IP was the Sythe proxy. We wouldn't unban someone who deserves to be banned.

Trusted members get second chances because Sythe staff feels like giving it to them over untrusted. Idk just sounded reasonable

 

I personally don't care what the staff does as long as they get it right. Theres enough of them to have an intelligent debate and come to a final decision.
