Can't boot from a disc to install Vista/XP

I've built myself a new computer and I've been wanting to install 64-bit Vista and XP, but when I try to clean install by booting from the CD, I don't get the option to boot from it.

I've checked to make sure my boot devices are set up correctly. The copy of Windows is legit, so I know it's not that. It just doesn't pop up. It works fine when I try booting with 32-bit.. I have no idea what the issue is.

Anybody have any idea?

 

Are you installing a Vista OR XP on a single computer or are you trying to dual boot.

 

Do you have a 64 bit CPU......?

 

I'm actually going to be tri-booting with XP, Vista, and Win7. Win7 64-bit installed just fine.

AMD Athlon II X4 620 2.6GHz stock, OC'd to 3.25GHz. Yes, it's a 64-bit processor.

 

Try booting in xp and mount the iso

 

I can't boot in XP if I don't have it installed :huh:

My install CDs aren't upgrade CDs, and even if they were, you can't downgrade from Win7 to Vista or XP. You can go from XP>Vista or Vista>Win7 but it doesn't let you downgrade.

 

Are you trying to install it on a separate partition or drive?

 

Partition. I have it already made, if it matters.

 

Oh shit my bad i thought you had 7 and xp and wanted vista, are you using the actual windows xp/vista installation cd or a burned iso?

 

It's a burned copy of the legit CD (not some random torrent, lulz) that I got from my A+ teacher last year (the Vista/XP CD, Win7 is torrented)

edit: I very seriously doubt it's because it's burned, because I've used them on other machines and it worked fine for them.

 

Are you sure its an .iso that burned to the disc? if so did it correctly burn?

 

It must have been a burner error, because I just re-burned (I've gone through like 10 DVDs today >_>) and XP installed just fine, and I'll assume that Vista will too, but I'll let you guys know tomorrow about that.
