Have you ever downloaded something from the internet without knowing if it had virus's or other malware? Has your computer ever been harmed by these intruders? Well This Guide will help you to be Safe.​

Important Definition's to Know!

1. Keylogger- A program which can excrypt into your computer which steals your passwords and send back to the creator of the keylogger.

2. System Restore- A option that lets you Restore your computer back to a date you have set. All files/programs that have been installed up to the date from your set restore point are all deleted when you execute a system restore.

3. Virus Scanner- A third party program you can install on your computer which can scan for virus's or other malware on your computer.

4. OS- OS stands for Operating System such as Windows Vista or Windows 7.

#1 Before downloading something from the internet or before receiving a file/program from another person, use http://www.virustotal.com/. Virustotal is a site where you can scan the program or file for malicious software. This is the most important step to keep your computer safe from virus's.

#2 If you have not done the first step or you are not 100 percent sure that you computer is clean, use a Virus Scanner to scan your computer for any malicious software. I currently use a free trial of McAfee Virus Scanner which can be found here http://home.mcafee.com/Default.aspx. When you have a working Anti-Vrus scanner, the scanner will give you 2 scanning options. The 2 options are a quick scan and a full scan. I repeat pick the FULL scan. If you do not pick the full scan, the anti-virus checker will not scope out your whole computer. Obviously a Full Scan will take longer.

#3 In the end, execute a system restore to the day before the file you think had the virus was downloaded to your computer. This will get rid of the file and other malware that was spread.

Quick Note
Always keep your Windows Defender or whatever it is called for your OS updated.
