Signatures

Will anyone enforce the signature rule?

Last I checked, even Matthew exceeds the set limit. (Width)

This is really getting out of control; there's more signature content than thread content sometimes. Some signatures even take up my whole screen, and I'm on a 22" monitor with 1680x1050 resolution.

I would really love it if I could scroll through a thread without seeing 20 vouches and a bunch of huge images. Vouch threads aren't allowed in the spam forum, but it is truly more annoying when it is in a person's signature and the person posts three times in one page of a thread.

By the way, who came up with the pixel measuring of signatures? It states that quotes can not be more than 650 pixels wide, but that is impossible on my monitor, because they're close to 1600 pixels wide.

Vouches shouldn't really go in signatures in my opinion..

Can't you just report the post of a person with a huge signature and say "oversized sig" and it will be looked at by a mod? Although, there is no guarantee the mod will edit it... A lot of the times they leave the advertising messages for other forums!

 

I reported the signature of Matthew, and You Jew said he can't access the donor's lounge. What does the post have to do with his signature? He could have just gone to his profile. (http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=631062)

Also, I reported RP2's signature about half a year ago, and no staff member did anything about it.
The reporting time limit doesn't help either. =\

Most of the times, even if it is reported, the person will just be infracted. What good does that do?

 

Well, sectional mods can't edit signatures, so when they do reports, infracting is really all they can do about it

 

Then I think sectional mods should be given power to do so.. as long as it's not abused.

I don't blame you guys. I think it's absolutely stupid that sectionals can temporarily ban, but oh no! What if they mess up someone's signature? We must definitely not allow them to do that!

Does that have ANYTHING to do with signatures? He could have clicked on the person's profile.

Oh stop complaining he obviously misread the report. It happens, and it was a mistake. Weren't you just the other day complimenting him on the positive affect he's had on the report a spammer forum? I actually left that report because I couldn't access the donator's lounge as it's not the first post you've reported from that forum (grave).

As for the signatures, as sectionals doing spammer reports, there's very little we can do about them besides finding a global mod that ISN'T busy to change/edit etc.

Grave, we can't edit people's signatures because that gives us access to edit the user's profile. Apparently we aren't supposed to have that. Would you rather we couldn't ban, and sit and wait for a global to ban while spammers mass spam the forum, scammers go unbanned etc etc.?

I think if you guys are allowed to temporarily ban, you should be able to edit profiles and signatures. I'm not saying you shouldn't be able to temporarily ban. I actually think you should be able to do permanent.

Even if he misread it, he could have left it open for a global to see it. What's wrong with me reporting things from the Donator's Lounge? Am I not supposed to? Btw, if the other part of your comment was aimed towards me, just because I compliment someone that doesn't mean I won't expose their errors. At least he even bothers to clean up the spam forum.

 

I think the point is that they don't want us being able to mess around with user's options. It allows us to troll and annoy the hell out of people we don't like.

I hope you don't mind receiving several PMs a week, and I also hope you actually take a look at them.

I'd appreciate it if globals could at least check the signatures on the thread they're posting on. That would help cut down on many gigantic signatures.
