Will someone help me to convince my dad otherwise?

An appropriate respone to each of these claims:

    1. A PS3 currently retails for $400 USD - 500, if you want a 'premium' model.

    2. A PS3's CBE is SO advanced over the Xbox's tri-core processor, there is no currently sufficient coding the use the full potential of the hardware. Even if IBM only yields 1/5 CBE processors at the full 8 cores, we won't even see the full power of the system until late this year, at earliest.

    3. The six-axis controller in the PS3 is actually quite different than the system used in the Wii, knowing as I own them. The Wii controller records a response through the front of the controller as compared to nearby IR signals. (Infrared.) What this means to you is that you don't need a 'sensor bar' on your PS3, because even though both the Wii and PS3 remotes are bluetooth, you won't have any extra wires to string up, and you'll end up with very similar, more precise functionality.

    4. When you consider adding a Hard Disk on a later date, we can compare the Xbox 360 to the PS3, in a flat-out loss for Microsoft, and see it's not a bad option at all. PS3 will now come with at least an 80 GB Hard Disk Drive (HDD). The Xbox 360 can (or does not) come with an HDD, at 60 and 120 GB of storage. You will pay at least $100 USD for a storage device upgrade. If you move from no HDD to 60 GB - That retails for $100 USD. If you upgrade from 60 GB to 120, you'll be paying $150 USD, and not really getting a significant upgrade. Comparing that to the cost of a properly working PS3 upgrade, let's buy a $150 USD HDD right now - After shipping...$109 USD @ 500 GB of storage available at Newegg.com..

    5. There is currently no option for choosing if you would like an HDMI output in Sony's available PS3 market. All models include this input. There is no option for this High Definition input on the Wii, and this input is only available on the highest grade "Elite" Xbox 360. No console other than the PS3 could take full advantage of this feature, however, anyway without the true High-Definition quality of a Blu-Ray disk. a DVD disk if formatted into standard definition, and when viewed on an HDTV, has only been boosted by what's called, "Upconverting." Though it does look better than your standard DVD player, that Xbox is not providing you with true HD content; Even with the HDMI input.

    6. As you all well should know, HD-DVD is out of the market. The reason being - PS3. Clearly the superior format, simply because it has a larger capacity, Sony chose the right option for their marketing it straight with the package. Giving you much superior 7.1, uncompressed audio, a Blu-Ray disk can't be matched in sound, unless your in a theatre itself. Picture quality is obviously superior to that of a DVD disk, with the proper player - And if your thinking the data can't sum up, I recently inspected the size of The Dark Knight on a Blu-Ray disk. Just the film itself, without bonus features - 11.7 GB. That's 3 GB more than a DVD can hold - Imagine what games can potentially do - or see for yourself as Metal Gear Solid 4 masses to over 45 GB alone.

    7. The performance of the 256 GB of RAM (Memory) runs at a much greater speed than you will find in a conventional PC, or other console. Looking at the raw stats, your seeing less in size and assuming less in quality, but any true tech-savy person knows it's not really the size that counts, it's how you use it. The PS3 also has a cache 256 MB of RAM that it uses exclusively to support it's ~500 MB of video memory. Really when you look at it, that's better specialization and usage over wasting it on the interface which runs in the background, right?

    8. I own a PC. Though it's massive, and cost me around $3500 USD, there is no comparison on the market when you verse that with a Console. The user base is much smaller in competitive play, due to pirating issues. The rendering of the objects is limited due to space and performance restrictions in DVD disks, and the "typical" PC respectively. It's not a market I'm willing to support, and it's falling like it's going out of style, as of late - But you wouldn't know that, because you likely play the only gig the PC has left in town; MMORPG.

    9. Microsoft's so called, "head start" is a poor argument, considering that the original Xbox is so many years older than a PSOne, and even then the console wasn't rated nearly so high in quality, as their DVD drives and HDDs were prone to break, just as they are now.

    10. Any console is very annoying to move around all the time, unless it's the size of a CD drive. (Wii.) What's really annoying is sending in your $250+ USD game console in for 6 weeks to get it repaired, but you would consider that excusable. Make sure your knocking on wood when you say yours hasn't broken yet, because 1/3 will get the "Ring of Death" before the warranty expires.

Ummm i would suggest to show him how an xbox is better than a ps3. but the bad thing is because ps3 has blu-ray he thinks a ps3 is better since an xbox doesn't have blu-ray. I suggest just show him how better it is :)

In my prior post I mentioned the 360 not having a Blu-Ray disk, and how that will effect it's High-Definition quality. I should mention now that the game titles provided for PS3 and Xbox 360 are not so very different, as you think. Obviously the Xbox 360 has Halo and Gears of War, along with Fable 2. If you particularly enjoy these games, that's nice, and maybe it would sway you to buy a console, but the PS3 has an equal or greater amount of exclusive games, and quite a vast amount of game titles as well. Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 1+2 (Halo, in essence, which was Doom, in essence), Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and the upcoming titles God of War 3, Uncharted 2, and Killzone - Also never leaving out the free content, HOME - Much like The Sims, but each individualized person you meet in the game is another user on the internet.

Exclusive games is an old trick Microsoft had only just shortly after the PS3 was released, because they were simply out sooner. Microsoft never cared much for the card the first time around when they had a superior hardware concept, but PS2 was out first - But whatever gives you the money, you do as a corporation.

    No games argument -
    PS3

    What

    'PS3 is more expensive' argument

    Xbox 360 - $300 (the no-HDD 360 can go fuck itself)
3 year warranty - $50 (You need it unless you want to pay more for every RRoD you get)
    1 year of live - $50
    Total - $400

    80gb PS3 - $400

Anything more than 1 year of live you essentially pay more for the 360. Switch it up any way you want. Router, two years of live, router + warranty, warranty + live, whatever.

    'Shitty online' argument

Please explain why you think it's shittier than XBL.

The moment you're satisfied with what you have is the moment you don't get anything more than you have or what's handed to you.

Get a ps3, it is so much better than the xbox in so many ways. It also has Blu-ray which makes watching movies(especially on a 60") MUCH more enjoyable.

Well, DAMN, I see that. /sarcasm

    Disproved above

Well, you, sir, can kindly fuck off. You don't even know the name of the game, let alone played it.

By the way, LittleBigPlanet scored higher than the precious Halo 3 and both Gears of Wars on Metacritic, AND IGN (accumulative from US, UK, and AUS scores).

Yeah, and the cheapest version doesn't even have a fucking HDD.

If you actually want an HDD, you pay $100 less for the Pro version than of a PS3. If you want 2 years of live, you are now paying more for the 360 than the PS3. Lose.

Edit: I just realized - No one even has a 360 for two years before you need to send it back to Microsoft.

I'm sick of this argument. You suck.

Tell him to get a 360 because the live is great, providing Netflix. The games are also better and he can just buy a Bluray DVD player, can't he?

360 has better games, you can still play movies on it but no Bluray, and it's a lot cheaper and we're in a recession right now lol.
