Is this possible?

Would it be possible to implement a mod that could tag a user? For example, Facebook you could do @(insert person name) and that would send a notification that someone just tagged their name in a post. Is this possible for vbulletin forum software to have something of that sort?

 

I've used a forum where you can tag a name so it hyper links to their profile when you type it and you get a notification in your inbox. But I am not sure if that is VB4 or VB3 as Sythe uses VB3 but it is possible.

 

That's pretty cool, i'd like to see sythe have this mod.

 

Similar to when you're quoted you get a notification for it. However I'm pretty sure that was denied as someone suggested it a while ago.

I wouldn't mind it as long as I could toggle the ability to be tagged.

 

I'd like this. Except it'll probably be denied like notifications did, i think its because we have an old software (vB3) although i not sure.

I don't think we need this. We aren't facebook or twitter.

 

It's not only in facebook or twitter, so you can't relate it to them and just them, this is used in many places, most of the forums I am a part of have this system and I really think it's beneficial to know when/why people are talking about you.

 

This i just dont see the benefits of this tagging system.

I believe before we try and implement anything new we should get the search function up and working. Its so fucking frustrating, and google or a search engine does NOT always work.

Could someone fill me in to why this tag function would be beneficial at all ?

 

When you post in someone else's thread and either you or someone expects you to know that they replied to you would be easier with this system. For own threads you can use subscriptions but I'd someone wants to get your attention fin a thread which you don't even know of, how else ???

 

Oh so you want notifications now too. Its called as TBT said you can subscribe.

I don't think we need this if someone wants to reply to you they can quote you.
