How secure is it to buy an account now?

As some of you know, I've bought about 5 high leveled accounts in the past few days. My question is, now with the email confromation and JaG, how secure is an account after you've bought it? I know everyone say's "They can always recover it no matter what" But I'd like a little more explanation on that now. Can anyone elaborate?

Also; any tips on making your account you bought even harder to recover back would be appreciated.

 

Well people can always email Jagex or have a good recovery to recover back if they don't have JAG/Recoveries it's a lot easier to secure. I'd recommend as soon as buying enabling JAG but if you plan on reselling make it easy questions so you can resell.

Original owner can still email jagex and have them delete jag/email.

 

It's just as easy as it has always been to get scammed. No matter what their new method of recoery is, Jagex recovers to the original IP address 10 times out of 10.

 

Not 10/10. One of my friends contacted Jagex saying that he moved and won the dispute over the original owner.

 

It all depends on how secure you make it. Don't be in a hurry to secure the transaction, make sure you take your time and do all things accurately.

IP's change. So to be honest, making sure you have all the security precautions that JaGeX provide, you should be relatively fine. =]

 

IMO, if you want to make it harder for them, constantly log in using a proxy that matches the IP of the buyer. That way, if jagex sees an appeal claiming "help, I've been hacked", they'll see that the IPs are similar and think, well maybe not. What usually happens is that Jagex will IP-check, and then see that the IPs are wildly different between owner and "hacker". If you can get your IP to come close to the owner's, they'll have a harder time detecting that you're not the owner. Of course you'll still likely lose the account even if you did that, but I would say that this is really the only way you can give yourself some added protection

 

Just to point out, proxies don't work. You'll need to use a VPN.

 

how exactly does this new JAG thing work may i ask

 

JAG makes it so that you have to manually clear IP addresses that can log into RS on your account. Anyone can log into the main website and do stuff, but they can't play Runescape unless you clear the IP address using an email form.
