@@@ Complete Guide To Waterfiends ~ Get that titan! @@@

    FIRSTLY

This guide is currently only for accounts with atleast 68 summoning, as it requires a bunyip, i may decide to re-make or edit this guide with an added 4+ summoning section. Anyways, onward with the guide! This guide will tell you pretty much everything you will need to know about waterfiends, one of the best crimson charm droppers. Aswell as that, waterfiends can be used from pures, to high levelled players for gaining charms.

    CONTENTS

    I. What are waterfiends?
    II. Inventory Setups/Prayer
    III. Armour setups
IV. Where can you find waterfiends?
    V. Slaying the fiends
    VI. Loot and charms

    I. What are waterfiends?

Waterfiends are creatures which are related to Pyre and Icefiends, however Waterfiends are the most powerful of all fiends, with a max hit of 119 from both attacks. These creatures may seem harmful, but with this guide waterfiends will be as easy to defeat as a cockroach drone. Waterfiends have a combat level of 115, and 134.

Waterfiends use two different styles of attacks, which are Magical attacks and Magic-based ranged attacks. You will be fully protected from their ranged attacks, as they supposedly use ranged more often and it is the more accurate attack of the two. Waterfiends are vulnerable to crush attack style weapons, some of these include the Chaotic Maul, Zamorakian Spear, Saradomin Sword and Verac's Flail, which will all be explained later on in the guide. Please keep in mind, that there is some sort of risk involved at waterfiends at all times.

    II. Inventory Setups/Prayer

This section of the guide will be split into two sections, one for mains and one for pures. Please note that i do know many types of pures exist, but in this guies i will show basic setups for 30 defence pures, i may decide to add more later.

    30 defence

30 defence will require a slightly less amount of food, as compared to 1 defence pures. However, the amount of prayer potions does not change much due to lack of option for prayer bonus, at the same time as trying to have a high magic defence bonus. However, you could replace the full slayer helmet with a mitre or proselyte helmet.

    (Picture not available)

    70+ defence

Main accounts need less food, and more potions. They may also need more bunyip pouches. When i made this guide, i had high enough summoning so i could summon two bunyips in a row. However, you will most likely have to bring one summoning potion, so swap a prayer potion with a summoning potion. Mains will be able to resist more magical attacks from the fiends. It is highly recommended that both types of accounts have a high magic level, to increase their invisible magical defence bonuses.

    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Prayer potions help you to extend your trip greatly, as you need them to pray ranged protection or deflection. Aswell, you could activate piety or other stat-boosing prayers and soul split.

Combat potions are a cheaper and slightly lower boosting alternative to super attack and super strength potions. The great thing about these potions is that they take up only one inventory space. However, you could use supers if you don't mind replacing a few pieces of food.

Games necklaces are just used to teleport to Barbarian Outpost. You can simply store them in the deposit box inside the Barbarian Assault minigame. Otherwise, you could drop them.

Bunyip pouches are familiars that require 68 summoning, as i explained earlier on. As a 30 defence pure, you only will really need one bunyip pouch per trip. These familiars heal 20 life points every 15 seconds. Totaling up to 3520 life points in their 44 minute life-span. Bunyips may also devour raw fish if you have Swallow Whole scrolls.

Sharks could also be replaced with other food. Other suitable foods include pineapple pizzas, monkfish and maybe swordfish. Sharks heal 200 life points.

One-click teleports are used to teleport you safely, away from the waterfiends after you have finished your trip. They are also used in an emergency. For example, if you run out of food or prayer potions, or your bunyips time limit runs out. A house teleport would be ideal, as you can't die inside a house.

Swallow Whole scrolls are used to activate the Bunyips special move, which allows you to consume a piece of raw fish. This is extremely useful at waterfiends as they drop raw sharks and swordfish.
I highly recommend bringing atleast 50 scrolls, because this is your main form of healing after you run out of food. (Ofcourse your bunyip will continue to heal 20 life points every 15 seconds)

Charm placeholders are slots saved for your charms, to be collected during your trip. You don't necessarily have to take a placeholder for each charm, it depends on what charms you decide to pick up.
Always have one for crimson charms though. Placeholders are also used at other places, like Aviansies where the placeholder is a noted adamant bar.

    Prayers

You will need to be praying ranged for the whole time you will be at waterfiends, you could also flick soul split if you have curses. This way it is possible that you should use no food. If you are on normal prayers, you could pray chivalry or piety if you feel that you need boosts. If you are running short on life points, you could also pray Rapid Renewal or Rapid Heal.

    III. Armour setups

At waterfiends there are alot of factors which affect how long you can stay there. One of the most important would have to be the armour which you choose to wear. The main bonuses involved at waterfiends are Crush Attack, Magic Defence and Strength. You should aim to have a setup which yield these bonuses. This section of the guide will also be split into two sections.

    Pures

This setup basically consists of black d'hide and snakeskin/monk robe to provide magical defence/prayer bonus. You could alternatively swap the slayer helmet for a proselyte helmet or mitre. And ofcourse, the glory is for kicks and giggles. You should use an ordinary glory or a fury amulet. But absolutely use a slayer helm if waterfiends are your slayer task. It is basically a void set, but in one piece.

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

    70+ defence

You will have a higher magic defence bonus with this setup, higher prayer and higher hits aswell. If you can see, with the 30 defence setup you get a +175 strength bonus boost, however, with this setup you have a +169 strength boost. People often mistake void as being worse because of this. Please remember that void has an invisible +10% damage and accuracy boost when using the full set. It is also highly recommended that you use elite void, as it gives a decent prayer bonus. If you have a soulwars cape use it instead of the fire cape, a demon horn or dragontooth necklace could also give you a very high prayer bonus. This guide will only be using the void setup, although you can use black d'hide and karil's.

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

The 3rd is a basic slayer setup, SHOULD ONLY BE USED ON TASK. Otherwise swap helm for helm of neitiznot or fighter helm, or maybe even dwarven helm. Please keep in mind that i don't have a pair of goliath gloves, in the second setup, replace barrows gloves with goliaths.

    What weapon should i use?

With no question, the Goliath gloves would be the best for getting faster kills. I highly recommend using the maul if you have one, as you DO make enough money to cover the costs of prayer points and chaotic recharges if you pick up the correct loot, which i will explain later. If you do not have a chaotic maul (I highly consider getting one), you can use other weapons with high crush attack bonuses, such as a zamorakian spear, saradomin sword, torags hammer, veracs flail, chaotic staff or even an ancient staff.

    IV. Where are waterfiends?

You can find waterfiends in the Chaos Tunnels, the Ancient Cavern and Ghorrock. I believe that the only efficient way to kill them is in the Ancient Cavern. The only requirement to enter the Caverns is to have completed all, but 'lighting pyres' in the Barbarian Training. First, make sure your prayer and summoning points are all full.

To get to waterfiends, use your games necklace to teleport to the Barbarian Outpost.

Once you arrive at the outpost, go directly west and through the Barbarian door. Look around until you see a Deposit Box, use your games necklace on it and head back out of the Barbarian Assault. Start heading south, and go up the hill which should take you to a large pond with a whirlpool. Stand on the pier and dive in. Here is a map photo from the outpost.

If you dive in and get washed away by the river, that means you haven't completed your training. But you should end up on a small ledge with a flight of stairs to the east.

DO NOT GO DOWN THE STAIRS YET

Turn on protect from magic and go down [if you brought a super antifire (1), sip that], don't be afraid of the brutal green dragons! They rarely hit over 100 if you have magic protection on. Now you have two paths to choose from.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages. The longer path obviously will have less people, as the only other way to get there is by using fairy rings and i believe people, including myself don't like questing. So it will sometimes be empty. However, there is more of a risk involved as you will have to pass multiple brutal green dragons as compared to the shorter path, where you only have to dodge attacks from 2 dragons. Remember, this cavern is all single combat, so you don't have to worry about being piled by dragons. The shorter path will most likely always have some people or another person there.
My personal favourite is the longer path, but it is up to you.

    V. Slaying the fiends

So, you've arrived at the waterfiends of your choice. You're being attacked and don't know what to do. Don't worry, summon your bunyip and put on protect from ranged. You should turn on Auto-Retaliate at this point. Right click the prayer icon and click 'Select quick prayer'. Now a panel will come up and let you select quick prayers. At the moment, the only prayer you will want is Protect From Ranged. Select it and click confirm. Now whenever you need to quickly pray ranged, click on the prayer icon.

Now, always, ALWAYS make sure you are attacking with a crush style attack, or you will find yourself missing alot of your hits. Weapons like the chaotic maul and torag's hammers have attacks which are all crush based.

Now, take a sip of a combat potion and turn auto-retaliate off if you wish to attack them yourself. If you do happen to get raw fish drops, pick them up if you have space and use a Swallow Whole scroll on the fish to heal yourself. It definitely does help to have a high cooking level as you need the same level to eat it, as the same level you would normally need to cook the fish. For example, you cannot use a swallow whole scroll on a shark when you're 74 cooking. You need 80 cooking.

As suggested by Ro Zz a saradomin godsword is very useful as it has a special attack which can heal life points and prayer points. It also has a crush style attack, which means it can also be used to kill waterfiends with ease.

    VI. Loot and charms

Looting is very important at waterfiends, for charms and also to cover the cost of your potions, bunyip pouches and scolls and possibly chaotic weapons. Firstly, it is very convenient to have a seperate bank tab for your waterfiend trips. Here is my bank tab after one trip. As you can see, the loot isn't too bad.

Waterfiends can actually bring in a decent income if you can kill them correctly. Earlier on i said that you could choose what charms you like to pick. I would recommend Gold, Crimson and Blue. Pick all of these charms up, as every charm will help. But Green charms aren't worth the trouble unless you want to. Now for the loot, you will mainly want to be picking up the stackables, although you will want to pick some unstackables.

Here are some stackables you should pick:

    Noted Sapphires
    Noted Water Orbs
    Noted Snape Grass
Death runes, Blood runes, Mist runes, Steam runes and Mud runes
    Noted Mithril Ores
    All seeds (2k+)
    Mithril Arrows.
    Various RoW drops

    Some of the unstackables:

    Adamant Chainbodies
    Water Talisman
    Water Battlestaves
    Grimy Herbs (2k+)
    Rune Med Helms
    Starved Ancient Effigies
    Various RoW drops

    Trips

Well these are basically some trips that i've done, i will add more as i go along.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

    Conclusion

    92 summoning atm.
Anyways, this is my second guide and i hope you've all benefited from it.
I will also be adding other pure and main setups in the future. Thanks!

I will try my best to add a new picture of my trips as often as i can.

This an awesome guide bro, well done :)
Good pics and info, everything you need. You should add in more info for like zerkers and 1'def pures though.
You should also add all the alternative weapons for people without chaotic mauls, like Sara swords, godswords, zammy spear, anchor, etc. You can also use rapiers and longswords quite effectively there too :)

All depends on your stats, you could use a dragon mace, or battleaxe if you've done the quests required. Chaotic and ancient staves aren't bad at all. Barrelchest anchors, saradomin sword, zamorakian spear. And according to Zerkeronrs7, chaotic rapiers and longswords aren't too bad there, but i have yet to try.

    @Zerkeronrs7

I will be releasing a guide for 1 defence pures as soon as i get membership back, but unfortunately i can't see much of a difference between 30 and 40+ defence pures. Therefore, i will not be making a zerker guide. However, you can adapt the 30 defence setup to your liking.

    Not a bad guide.

I'd definitely like to see a Pure guide for this (if possible).

    Good job.
